Great first reaction!!! The most fun I ever had at a concert was when I discovered Thank You Scientist. They opened for Haken. Talk about good quirky fun the entire night. The instruments you are hearing is trumpet, sax and violin. I highly recommend a video showing the guys in action. Check out the song FXMLDR with the Blue Coats marching drum corps.

I love everything from Thank You Scientist. It was refreshing to see such an exuberant reaction to their music. Literally EVERYTHING they do elicits this feeling from me. Glad you found them.

First time hearing this as well. Very good. Bit of a Zappa vibe going on there. Nicely done. Thanks for the reaction. 😎👍

Such a fantastic underrated band. These guys are super musicians. So many good tracks to listen to. FXMLDR is always popular, caverns is another one, pretty much any of their songs is quality

such a great band 🤘🏻🔥 saw them back in ‘15 when they opened for Coheed & Cambria. I would recommend them as well, huge discographies

Such a great song! That's from their debut record, and they're so consistent I can't pick a favorite album from them! I second the FXMLDR video with the Blue Coats recommandation!

“This is fun”. Perfect statement for these guys. If you just live music, I’m not sure how someone would t like these guys. Rock metal jazz funky would magic stuff. There’s a little something for everyone on their albums.

Its basically prog-metal with a horn section (and a fiddle player) with lots of funk, jazz and other elements. Frank Zappa is smiling down from wherever he is at these guys. Seriously making me think of buying a fretless guitar (not because of this song, but if you dig into their discog you'll find out). Do head down that rabbit hole though, you'll thoroughly enjoy the trip (and when you see what the singer looks like you're going to go "that voice comes out of THAT!?" ... sorry, love you Sal!). A lot of people will recommend FXMLDR (Fox Molder) the live version with some college marching band horn section and recorded using solar power... and that's great, but I love Psychopomp, Tarraformer, Everyday Ghosts. Oh and Chromology is an awesome instrumental (clearly written to give everyone a moment to shine ... live and in person I bet it's double-plus killer)

Looove their first two albums. Some of the most creative and compelling music out there.

Your joy in this reaction is contagious. Loved it. The horns are sort of their gimmick. As far as I remember they are in every song as permanent band members. For me it doesn't come off as gimmicky until you get to their later albums but maybe that's just me.

i would suggest and request these other Thank You Scientist songs - "Feed The Horses" , "Rube Goldberg Variations" , "Chromology" and "FXMLDR" - of course they are very talented.

I've actually never heard of this band as well, but was pleasantly surprised. Looking forward to hearing more, and may check them out on my own time too

Tom Monda is kind of underrated as a guitarist. And if memory serves he's the chief arranger of their songs. Also, I prefer Stranger Heads Prevail. And I would recommend Caverns or Mr. Invisible from those.
