I once asked a farmer if there were any services close by, before i started digging, "no nothing" was his reply. 3 buckets in, out came an electric cable, in two pieces, next bucket out came the water main, in two pieces. Best bit was where I'd hooked the electric, before it broke, it pulled all the meters off the wall in the farm cottage next door. Moral, remember where you put services. Also didn't see you put a draw rope in?
@FarmerP4 жыл бұрын
Tricky Dicky I am fortunate enough to have a CAT 4 scanner so as long as a cable has some current I can find it, if not I can put the geni on it and get the depth as well. The conduit pipe comes with a draw string that Henry joined with one of his sailing knots. The trench was over 4’ deep near the building, should be low enough to avoid future issues, I may scratch the top off later and put a warning tape in at 2’. 👍🙂
@petercross88714 жыл бұрын
@@FarmerP As a Trainer assessor, I always remained my trainers to advise the trainees using the CATS, that at the end of the day you can find it, mark it, tell the machine driver where you think it is, but if he doesn't concentrate. He will hit it,. . Always a bonus if when back filling you put some tape in regardless of depth. . Your a good man .#Have a safe day

Pain in the aris hitting that other pipe, lucky you had help to fix it, doesn't look very deep though maybe that's the camera angle, looked like a subsoiler would be very close to hitting it though I guess you'd not do that part of the field now as you know it's there. Question I've been meaning to ask is. Why did the tenant give up the land in such a hurry last year and what did he use the land for? Thanks for the video and take care.

Nice trenching skills mr p , remember to always mark your services on a drawing/plan just in case you forget that the water and power is there or take some photos they will save you a lot of time knowing where it is, also for future reference if one day Abbi decides to put a barn up then the builder can look at the drawings and have an easy tie into existing , also helps you should you have to dig it up again , keep up the great work mr p 👍😃
