@@martynohara8101 your preference is key...I have been learning and using Freecad for a couple of years now...if I remember correctly from 0.18 onwards... The learning curve is high...but you will definitely enjoy the results!🖖🙂

I have a double-wide monitor, and it works better here (and I think makes more use of the screen) to place toolbars along the side.

I don't know if a problem I have is because the version you're doing this tutorial is because it was a RC, or the fact I'm not seeing the "Start" in the workbenches drop down menu

The start workbench has been removed but it can be enabled apparently. But you can jump to one of the other workbenches that is fine. I need to update some of these videos as since the dev versions a few small things have changed but they do cause some confusion.

Downloaded the daily and the developers have done a great job However I would like to get rid of those task and model panels to create a larger drawing area so that I can open different "view split screens"

If you have 2 monitors you can get everything splitted however you want, it will be your choice...

Nice this 0.22 version. Nice video's. Don't know how you do it. First a great series on version 0.19 and now starting all over again. Chapeau. However, In the current weekly build I miss specific items on the toolbars (e.g. the Constrain coincident on the Sketcher toolbar). In Customizing the toolbars I am not able to add items to the existing toolbars and rearrange them. The only option I find is to add a sub-toolbaar and then add the Coincincident constrain to that sub... I then have the functionality available but can not reaarrange the icons with the icons that were availble in the first place. Am I missing something?

The start workbench in my version does not exist anymore. For me it's basically the start page where I can choose to start a new document.

Just Installed 1.0.0 (Revision 39109 Git), There's no "Start" workbench, it starts in "Part Design" Workbench.

True there is no Start Workbench but the Start page can be activated from the Help menu at the top of the FreeCAD screen.

This tutorial was made before the feature freeze, before they decided to hide it. I am looking to redo the video but you can use the panels and toolbars in the same way. I was a little frustrated when that happened but the process is the same. Sorry for the confusion.

hey is there any way to have the tools that are contained in a dropdown (like the one at 5:33) to be expanded so they will be in the toolbar permanently so that I wont have to click on the dropdown everytime i want to use them?

Thanks, Darren. Is it possible to increase the size of the font in the panels? Between the small size and the colors I find very difficult to read the text.

If you have 2 monitors you can get everything splitted however you want, it will be your choice to increase/decrease their resolutions... or try to find if it's possible to do it at Tools-Edit Parameters ( be very careful when you do changes in these parameters) ... or consult the developers for a suitable solution. I think some years ago it wasn't possible I do not know nowadays.

on v0.22, i have start workbench missing. neither on the prefences also.

I see some comments about incompatibility of 0.21 and 0.22, namely that 0.22 files will not work in 0.21. But is the opposite also true? If I open a 0.21 file in 0.22 am I asking for trouble? Reply

I downloaded the weekly build (37668) and tested the topo naming behaviour, like you did a month ago. I now noticed that FreeCAD 0.22 files are incompatible with older versions. I saved the test model that I created with 0.22. When I open it in 0.21.2 the file gets corrupt as soon as I open and close a sketch. The error is "Unsupported sub-shape type" at the feature created with that sketch. The error is not reversable with CRTL-Z or other means. So we should be careful creating models with the new version until it is finally released, because there seems to be no way to work with 0.22 files on older versions and we don't know, how the final version will look like.

It's the same as with LinkStage3 from Thunderbolt and Ondsel. Do not mix them.

Interestingly, in release 1.0.0 I do not see the Start workbench. Edit: looks like they've done away with this in 1.0 (according to the wiki). F in chat.
