@@paultumelty Eitherway, I don't think a piano sample will be that good for BBCSO. Just from the space and the fact that very good orchestral-oriented piano libraries are plentiful. Cinepiano is still amazing and the recent free LABS grand piano is identical to the Originals Intimate Piano.

Its a real shame to be seeing so so much negative feedback on a Spitfire product these days. The sound is good as alwaus but customers just dont seem to be being listened to on things like unfinished products and having spent vast amounts of money on them only for them to feel like they've been abandoned. This isnt the spitfire audio we all want!

A new collaboration? If this is about to be a new product I will move to orchestral tools... BBCSO feels incomplete. Not all instruments have legato patches, the percussion section is severely lacking, there is no purge function, and some instrument legatos feel very weak especially solo strings (the virbratos jump from 0 to 100, the celli leader legato is very weak). Perhaps make an expansion pack for BBCSO that adds more percussive instruments and fixes some of the problems. It would be super nice if we get a chamber orchestra, a grand piano and a choir (with a proper sylable builder not just aahs and oohs), sometime in the future once BBCSO is completed.

In principle, I was keen on the idea of Spitfire Audio coming out with a piano to complement BBCSO, but to be honest I'm a bit underwhelmed. It's a nice sounding piano, and if I didn't already have a decent piano in my collection I might have bought it by now. But as it stands I have Native Instruments' Noire, among others, and I see no compelling evidence that this piano will give me enough that Noire doesn't to justify the extra purchase.

I think that the addition of the piano is great. Very happy.There's also the BBC Symphony Chorus that would be great too. I agree with the comments that those of us who invested a premium price for the BBCSO have gotten he short end of the stick. It's been a neglected library that is in danger of becoming outdated, and I imagine it has something to do with Maida Vales closing.

@0Jebus0 I see what you mean. I think some of the comments about the BBCSO Piano are a bit harsh. Especially with it being 'boring' or 'uncharacteristic'. The BBC is a very traditional orchestra and the piano reflects that character. It's therefore a very bread-and-butter piano but it fits well with the rest of the package. Don't have a problem with the product itself. Issues are with Spitfire's marketing and ability to connect with its target consumer base.

A main selling point of BBCSO to me is that the individual orchestral instruments instead of layers make it the only library in its class where you can mock up a genuine classical score. But the mix on this piano doesn't sound at all classical in tone, so I don't see it fitting in with the rest of the library. And why is the signal so heavy on the right channel on every mic? It's actually quite unpleasant.

Even with the discount, a bit steep for pro owners. One might argue a piano should have been included in the first place as, after all, it is an integral part of the orchestra. It would be lovely, instead, to have an update with fff for the brass and better legato patches for some brass instruments such as the trombone(s).

Spitfire repeatedly marketed and sold BBCSO as a complete, all-in-one Orchestra. Then they said many times that they would record a Piano and add it to BBCSO as an update. And here we are, where they've released it as a completely new product. 6 Dynamic Layers is garbage for the price; you can get one that sounds just as good with 10 for 50 bucks with Signature Grand. Spitfire is overpriced, and deceptive. Even the base version of BBCSO crashes my DAW constantly. I am never buying a Spitfire product again.

BBC Discovery (free version) comes with this Piano (very basic version) after upgraded to V1.7, Sadly, no discount offer to BBC Pro owners. BBC Pro includes BBC Discovery, BBC Core and BBC Pro, switch from PRO to Discovery at the VST3 interface, the Piano (very basic version) pops up.

I'm using the BBCSO Piano Pro. I can't get a clear answer no matter how hard I try Googling, so I'm just asking a question in here. Is it normal for the sound to be tilted to the left when playing using the microphones of Mix1 and Mix2 in the default setting? Even though the pan value is in the center, when it is Mix1 and Mix2, it is much louder in the left speaker, so I have a little question about how to set the pan value for a solo piano song to hear the sound in the center. Please tell me it's not a problem with my speaker or DAW...

Also, sorry if you got somehow tricked into thinking that you were going to get free stuff after you bought the original thing, i bought BBCSO with no expectations except for what i initially bought so i'm not disappointed. As a sound engineer myself, this kind of piano, with all the mic options, in that incredible room, 85 euros feels like theft in my opinion.

The dynamics and the mix are completely off! Try playing a G3 and A3 at the lowest possible velocity. An 8db difference in volume! The panning is completely random in several notes as well. Try an A4 followed by a B4 and listen to the panning. It's just horrible. As a loyal costumer I am extremely disappointed.This product really isn't ready for release in any way. I have reported this to Spitfire Audio with no response following at all.

After going through the majority of the comments, I understand the sense of disappointment, particularly when it doesn't align with the expectation of a free update. However, I personally bought it and I'm absolutely thrilled with it. I have other pianos in my collection that I adore, particularly a blend of "The Gentlemen" and "Noire Pure" that produces a wonderfully soft and melodious sound until I strike the keys. Nevertheless, despite all of that, I genuinely love the simplicity and timeless elegance of this BBC SO piano. It takes me back to my days at the conservatory in the 80s. Sound and instruments are a highly subjective matter. When it comes to musical instruments, I prefer to approach it with the mindset of "start playing and see what emerges." If nothing resonates with me, then it's simply not meant for me to play.

It sounds great... I've been holding out on a concert grand sound with the hopes that this would see the light of day. I've cut my spending off at the moment but this will surely be a future purchase!

I was super disappointed with it at first after purchasing, so I went to check out this video to figure out if I'm just dumb....and it turns out that was the case, because I didn't see the additional 2 dots under the mic placement settings which let me tweak the sound to my liking. I thought there was only 1 page of mic settings lol. Now I can't get enough!! Great product!

Sounds incredible! I love the Steinway Model D and I've been lucky enough to play one a number of times in great spaces. Nothing compares to the richness and thunderous bottom end of a model D; you don't just hear it, you feel it in your body and hands. The top end glistens without losing definition or sounding piercing. This demo from Paul took me right back to playing a model D and he's right, you lose yourself and nothing else matters at that moment, and I found I would be so inspired every time I sat and played a Steinway Model D and wrote music I didn't think I was capable of writing as a result. Judging by this brilliant demo by Paul, this could well be my favourite ever library by Spitfire. I have some great sounding piano libraries, and spent a small fortune on them, but this Steinway Model D is worth every penny I've wasted to get the feeling I've just had listening to Paul play what I believe is the greatest sounding instrument on the planet! Bravo Paul and the team at Spitfire Audio 🙌🏼
