Better Hawthorn than Bradford Pear! Quick and easy bee food for early spring: Lamium Purpureum, (purple dead nettle) .. I have a few hive's worth of bees working the backyard harvesting those flowers every day. The Cercis Canadensis (Eastern Redbud) is beginning to bud, and the Stellaria Media (Chickweed) is in bloom, too. Lots and lots of little flowers seem to draw the bees more than a few big flashy blooms.

Still I'll never go barefoot in the yard cause it bees

Agreed, the blanket flowers are the nectar wells for the bees

Plant bee loving flowers all around not particularly in the beds but throw seeds freely in the natural.

Hey friend, when I was growing tomatoes in a green house I used bumble bees for pollination. If there was not enough flowers for the bees at the beginning I put out bee pollen for the bees in jar lids. Pickle lid , mayo lid what ever and it pulled the colony thru tough times.

Oh thank you! I noticed this morning the girls were packing pollen into the hives (all) today. I’m watching entrances, dying to get in, but not seeing any reason to check, except maybe to take off the feeders and let them work for their keep...

Thanks for the update on your bees. They will do fine if the mites are under control. That is something that I know up here where I am at in West Virginia I have to stay on top of. The mites are the number one killer of honeybees. I treat my bees with Oxalic Acid and they seem to do well on it. Actually oxalic acid is considered a organic form of treatment for your bees.
@ArkansasWoodcutter2 жыл бұрын
I thank you sir. I’ll look into it. Oxalic acid

That's awesome you are starting to be a bee keeper ! I always thought it would be cool to raise them but not too sure if I would want all the work that goes with it . I hope you have a great evening !

Much respect to anybody with bees. It's not something I would attempt, but its interesting to watch. I have some Arbor Day trees. I donated this year, too, but I didnt get my trees. 🤨 Have a great day!

Been studying for a year now but my city has ordinances that will not allow me to even have bees I am ready to sell the house.
