New beekeepers how to tell if hive has a queen

This video is going out to the new beekeepers especially the first year beekeepers look to your hive when you're looking for the queen if you see eggs be satisfied you can cause more damage by looking and laying the frames down then you would be if you would have just left the hive alone after you saw the freshly laid eggs.

Someone else said if queenless could be eggs but wouldn’t be fertile. I’m about 4 or 5 days new so forgive me. We found a swarm on our yard (yes on), so I ran and got a hive and had help from more experienced bee person and they moved them into my hive. But not sure if we have a queen or not.

Check the swarm in the hive in couple of days, look for queen, or look for fresh new eggs in bottom of freshly made cells. If you see single uniform egg in bottom, but not multiple eggs per each cell, you should definitely have a queen. If not, add a frame of bees that have mostly day old eggs, they will be sticking straight up in bottom of cell. They can make a new queen from some of these. When you add the frame do not shake bees off, shaking them off could dislodge and kill larvae.

How do you know if the workers are laying the eggs because it went queenless? I started my first hive last spring and it didn't draw out any of the frames till late fall. I definitely spent too much time (once a week) inspecting the hive when i first got it and I'm afraid something happened to her. The Hive is exploding right now so I'm encouraged but I'm still not sure. I just added another deep on top of it and I'm setting up another hive so that I have two so I can compare. hey David Butch in SC if you hold the comb up to the sun with it coming from behind the comb it'll light up the comb and its easy to see the eggs. ( my experience anyway). good luck love the vids.

Can I bait the old Queen with a new Queen ? I would like to introduce a much more mellow new Queens into my beehives , as much as I looked I was not able to identify it , hopefully your tip will help me identify it .

The size of the egg is about 1/5 size of rice, is that right?

at what point should I be concerned at the level of eggs I see laid? I see lots of young larva.... but not that many eggs. It was actually quite challenging to find them at all.

Why does the wax get a dark brown color in the frame and does it need to be cleaned?

Barnyard Bees ok cool :) your channel is awesome and very inspiring. I am a beginning beekeeper from the Netherlands. I have one hive at the moment and in 2 weeks I will have the exam if the beekeepers course i follow at the moment :) can't wait to expand the beepopulation next year. Thanks again :)
