This actually worked for me. Only difference is that I have a 2008 Beetle and it has 1 additional bigger screw directly to the right of the one in the video at 0:37, (not the one to the right and below) for a total of 2 screws I had to remove. Then you remove the key lock. This took me some work since it had probably never been removed ever and was a bit stuck in place. Then, as shown, your screwdriver is your second key! And Bob’s your uncle! Success!

You can actually just use the lock button on the inside of the door all while sitting in the driver’s seat. I didn’t think it would work but it does. No second key or this trick needed

@@goathead52 dude, you’re missing the entire point. The video isn’t detailed enough for the average DIY mechanic that doesn’t know squat and that’s how the video should be delivered. In the link I’ve included below , this is a better example of how the video should have been done. The only thing about the video in the link I’ve attached is the key itself can separate from the remote so if you don’t have 2 key fobs it’s still possible to program with a single remote. The guy in this link I’ve included also tells you to unlock and lock the door manually before pressing the lock or unlock on the remote twice. That being said I don’t care how many followers this guy has. In this video, all he is doing is showing you how to bypass having a second key by removing the lock and using a flathead screwdriver to lock and unlock. Yes there are a lot of DIYers but damn... A smidgeon of common sense is needed for much of this stuff....

I know exactly how to accomplish this and this video is not thorough as I mentioned.if you are going to make an instructional video, especially on KZbin where everyone isn’t mechanical savvy, then you need to be thorough.For fuck sake, that’s why people started making these types of KZbin videos. It’s counterproductive to do a half ass video. But yeah good luck with your thought process. I’ll stick to the good stuff. Dueces
