New BETA 300RR "Race Edition" First Ride & Review

For Enduro riding the big three are hard to beat.. (KTM, Husqvarna, Gas Gas)
And with the last Beta I rode putting a bad taste in my mouth I was curious how I would feel about ‪@JacobBoone‬ new Beta 300RR Race Edition. It has several MAJOR updates since the last gen bike I rode including KYB suspension and a dual spark plug configuration.
Coming right off of my KTM 300 XC-W TBI here are my first thoughts of the Italian machine 🇮🇹

I have a 2024 Beta 200 Race and love it. Had it just over a year and haven’t done anything but oil and air filter changes. I haven’t had 1 issue

Nail on the head. Don't want to deal with the carb so I'm a KTM guy. Both bikes should be the same reliability, biggest factor is the rider's type of riding and knowledge of maintenance.

I liked my Beta 300RR (2018) didn't get enough hours on it to talk about reliability but it was good to me. Didn't worry about anything and it was using the oil injection which seemed to work just fine. Having said that, I don't know if I'd want a bike with OI again. I would notice when riding long the oil light would come on, saying that there was not much oil in it, when there was. Maybe the sensor was weird. I liked the frame, I felt like it was easy to move around on and had nice balance to it. Of course I was use to old shit box bikes, so take that for what it's worth. I will say that from the factory, the engine was pretty dialed. I didn't do anything to it and never fouled a plug either. Suspension wasn't the best, had a decent initial plush stroke but the more you pushed it the springy-er it felt. Would not recommend the Sachs. I don't think you could go wrong with either a KTM or a BETA, just maintain what you've got and you should be golden. Having said all that, if Yamaha would put the magic button on a 250X that would be my next purchase for sure. I also hate to say this, but I picked up a MINT 2004 KDX200 and I have fun on that little piece. People just need to get out there and ride! Have fun bois.

Yeah we deleted it on Alexis's bike, we were experiencing the same thing AND using hardly any oil.. Went ahead and deleted it for peace of mind. I have never had any doubts with the TBI system in my 24. You really can't go wrong with the KDX it is such a good machine and I agree if Yamaha did that they would be sold out indefinitely haha.

I think one also needs to consider the price of parts and the availability of parts a few years down the road when deciding KTM or Beta. We’ve got a 2019 Beta 125RR RE my son rides and we love it but those OEM parts are $$.

I'm definitely a big fan of Beta in general and Beta Xtrainer, as my skill level is similar to your wife's abilities. (I did get lucky cartridges and suspension reworked by AMP, though). Y'all ever come to Middle TN definitely check out Battleground MX in Tennessee. It would be great for content.

The Xtrainer is an amazing machine that I and especially Alexis are VERY thankful for. Why nobody else has created a bike of its size / power I will never understand. Thanks for the recommendation!

Hope my beta crank bearings don’t go out at 60hrs. The 10 buddies that bought ktms in 2024 and told me not to be different would all be pointing and laughing. So far so good with my 2024 300

I really hope beta moves away from the Sachs stuff. The rear shocks are never the issue it’s 100% a fork issue. The chassis are different, not quite a KTM and not a Japanese bike either. Like a blend between both.

Sucks because beta looks so damn good. Personally speaking. But I’d go ktm for proven reliability. All this input from me who only rides kawasakis. 😂😂😂😂. Sorry I know I know. But had my first kawi in 1985. And have had 20 of them. Even have a Kawasaki jetski. And currently riding a 09’ kx250f because I hate fuel injection. I’m old school.

@ sure did. My first bike was a kdx80. Early 80’s. Then had a late 80’s Kdx 200. And a later 250. Had a lot of kx125’s. Never had a nice Kdx though. A lot of clapped out ones when I was younger. Just rode them until they fell apart. Didn’t really have a lot of money growing up. So it was always a swap meet of crappy bikes. Sadly my current 250 is the nicest I’ve had. But I paid more for it because it had no hours on a real nice top to bottom refresh. Front to back bushings and bearings. It’s tough man when kids and wife, house eat up all the cash. So I get what I can afford and never had a payment on anything but the house. But that’s just me. If I can’t buy it outright I don’t want it. False flex to show off payments. .

@ in my opinion I like the beta more than any other brand. I’ve rode every brand except the TM’s and I’m the most comfortable on the beta to hit the trails and they perform good too.

Yeah for many that will be a deal breaker but there are a lot of people out there that still prefer carburetors. I understand the argument from both sides but fuel injection is just so damn convenient especially for those that ride at elevation.

You’re delusional if you’re saying ktm is more reliable. I got a 2024 and crank side bearing and seals went out at 15 hours. It threw codes on my 3rd ride and has never ever had a consistent hit off the bottom. TBI is abysmal it’s going byebye. And Kyb vs WP … even the new WP spring forks can not compare to Kyb SSS and yes I putt the right springs in for my weight and the correct amount of oil. All euro bikes have issues.

@ I work in tech for 20 years already people working for Beta or KtM make peanuts. I currently own 2 KTM one is 24 TBI the other is 22 125 (carb) and a 2021 Husqvarna TPI. I don’t even own a Beta I ride/race/practice all harescramble/enduro season with Beta riders and we often ride each others bikes. I’ve bought a Rieju for the upcoming season as I’m selling all the KtM product group stuff(cheaply too). I’m also selling a pair of WP bladder forks(cones), 2024 spring cc forks and already sold 7500 conevalve inserts that were professionally tuned. I’ve run all the types of forks KtM offers outside the 4c ones. Objectively I can say KYB is just better stock yz250x or wr250 forks literally better then tuned conevalves or WP spring forks by leaps and bounds. And SmartCarb or well tuned Keihin beats TPI/TBI any day of the week. Beta RR/race edition ride nice out of the box same with yz250x. I’ve wasted sooo much money on KTM/WP products very very aggrevating.
