Congrats! I bought the frame only version and built it up. Its the best bike I've ever ridden. You'll love yours. You helped me out a lot with the how to headset cup change video too!

Hey Parker - thanks very much! I’m really excited to ride the bike in earnest next week! It feels very natural riding around our neighborhood but that isnt really doing the bike any sort of justice. I’m glad the other videos have been helpful! Thanks for checking out the video.

I went through exactly the same decision process and landed on the same level! Only difference is I chose the other color way as my epic evo was that blue. I prefer gray or black. Looking forward to seeing where you end up regarding HTA etc. I put it on the most upright settings for normal riding. I also wrapped it for protection and added the swat tool into the head tube. I bought mine 6 mos ago and have only ridden around the neighborhood… 😩. I’ll get after it when the weather drops a bit. It’s currently road season for me haha.

Hey Kenny, thanks for watching the video and taking the time to comment. I’m psyched with the bike - i think it nails that sweet spot on build versus price - though it seems odd to say that given how expensive bikes have become. This build takes away many excuses to upgrade parts plus which ultimately would have been more expensive over time. I got the battleship colour as the other color way for the Expert was too close to the grey of my daughter’s Evo Comp Alloy! I’ll check back on the geometry settings. We have Mili’s set up in the lowest/slackest setting as she likes bike parks but isnt a big fan of pedaling! Enjoy your riding!

@@dizidoesdownhill awesome. Love the channel. I can wait until my daughter is old enough to just pedal with me. Looking forward to your experience with this as an all arounder for pedaling and then park days. I too went with S5 at 6’2”. S4 felt a bit tight as far as reach and I certainly feel the extra length on the rear. I was a bit torn and almost went S4 because of the shorter chain stays. At the end of the day the longer the bike the “safer” so I made that choice. Just have to work a bit harder on my wheelies lol.

Thanks for the feedback! It’s been a great experience getting our two kids into mountain biking. Late last season they did a week at Killington Bike Camp and this year we have them signed up for a few more weeks. They’re both steadily progressing and i think Mili will soon be kicking my butt. I’ve biked since I was a kid but not much off road. Bike parks are a lot of fun but show up my lack of skill. It’s fun learning and progressing with the kiddos - some of the best days ever! You’ll love it when you daughter is ready. I’m a little over 6’4” but have a geeky long neck so am prolly closer to 6’3” torso/legs of a regular human! I think an S4 would’ve been a bit cozy, but likely still workable. My old 26 incher was easier to get up on the back wheel. My wheelies and manuals are very much a work in progress but the Evo is noticeably harder to hoist!

I bought the only bike in stock in my area...2022 Evo Expert - Things I changed - Rear Swiss Hubs have a 19t (hate that so much), so Swiss has an upgrade 54T that is way better. I HATE Scram brakes, so I switched everything to Shimano XTR (only brakes and shifter I could get this year, as XT would have been fine) I switched out the rear shock to the Fox Factory X2 (daughter gets my "old" shock on her 2022 Evo Alloy)

Hey Scott, thanks for checking out the video and taking the time to comment. How straight forward was it to switch to the 54T free hub? Is it a whole new hub/re-lacing job? I just abused the bike at a bike park all week and the SRAM Codes seem to be firming up. Can’t imagine why that is but I’m now confident with them having come from the 4 pot XT brakes. Different feel but not a deal breaker for me. How do you like the Fox X2 - do you notice anything specific? Tidy upgrade for your daughter (sounds like you and your daughter made the same bike decision that Mili and I did!)

Just wanted to throw this out there for you. I have the 22 evo alloy comp. Best bike. I do a lot of jumping, we have a lot of secret jumps here in San Diego and I used to run in the slack and low setting. One day I entered a XC race just for kicks and put the forks in the steepest setting and the bottom bracket in the high setting and then after the race I hit jumps in that configuration. I found that it made the bike shorter and so it fit on the jump face better and actually jumps the 6’ tall jumps and smaller much much better. When I went to snow summit bike park I went slack and low for those big jumps and that was perfect. Just saying the shorter the bike the better for jumps smaller than 6’ tall. Give it a try

Hey Zach. Thanks for checking out the vid and for your comment - really appreciate it. I’ve had the bike in the stock setting for a couple of weeks which included a couple of days at Killington Bike Park. I moved the head tube angle from the stock setting to the slack setting and it seems to have made the bike more stable downhill and more manageable on the jumps I’ve been doing here. I’m pretty new to jumping but am definitely progressing. I’ve been doing blue trails and easy blacks to give some yardstick of my experience. I think as my skills pick up I’ll be more attuned to the difference that geometry makes on smaller vs larger jumps. I’ll be keeping the bike for a good while so will keep on tinkering with the geo for sure. Thanks again.

Have you ridden Powder Ridge in Middlefield? Bikers edge is great, they sold me a take off Fox 34 for only $400

Hey Flash, I took my son Dex there at the beginning of the summer. We didn’t have long there so didn’t see much of the park but it is great to have it close and we will be returning for sure! Have you been/did you like it? Bikers Edge is very helpful. Recommend them. And great deal on your fork!

Will this bike allow you to make a 1000/1200m slope in an aprox 40km ride? Because I know the enduro part is covered.. I mean, looking for a “total” bike to have fun with enduro trails but also make medium distance routes frecuently. Thank u!

It’s a solid allrounder. Less slack / shorter travel bikes tend to climb better but this bike certainly can climb. And while the Evo climbs better in its high / steep geo settings, I haven’t struggled in the slacker setting. But I’d recommend taking one for a test ride as our perspectives on good and bad may vary. Thanks for checking out the video.

Hey! than you for your response. I have more doubts in the climbing aspect with so much travel.And sure, I will definitely take a test ride to clear my thoughts , but it looks great. Both bikes indeed, but mostly the yeti ,) Keep on rocking!@@dizidoesdownhill

Weight difference between carbon and AL model is noticeable ? I’m curious to know the wheels weight difference, if you ve got the same tires can you measure it? (Maybe only the front that hasn’t the cassette) I’ve got AL model

Hey Federico, thanks for checking out the video. There is definitely a weight difference and I’m guessing its largely the cassette, wheel set and the frame. I’m on holiday at the moment so will check in a week when I’m back home with the bikes.

Is there an update to this? How did it do at Killington?
@dizidoesdownhill
@dizidoesdownhill Жыл бұрын
Hey Alex, thanks for checking out the video. I am very slow at pulling videos together! Am hoping to do an update soon. The bike was great at Killington. I had a blast on it. The suspension works grear, the brakes bedded in nicely to the point I wasn’t missing my old shimanos and the drive train is excellent. The bike is longer and slacker than my old BMC which definitely ups the confidence level when you point it downhill. I put the head angle in the slackest position and feels good even when regularly riding the bike. Happy with the purchase!
