New Bike Day - Canyon Spectral Mullet

I've been researching, for what feels like forever, over which new bike to buy.
I knew my old Spectral CF8 was getting out of date with the geometry after having ridden some more modern bikes...but I had been delaying making a decision!
Well, the wait is finally over and this video goes through a few of the features and the first ride I had on the bike over in Cannock Chase.
First impressions are positive.

Right, a lot of research & hard work trying to decide which bike to get. I like would like to try a mullet, Capra Mx, Spectral Mullet, Torque Mullet, Santa Cruz or Propain mix wheel. So many great bikes now. Thanks for your video.

I love your video! Have the same wish to mtb with my dog a white sheperd, she's too young now but we are building some biking miles up at the moment. I have a question; I'm coming from a hardtail and have been spending hours as well on finding the right fully. Now...the Spectral Mullet and the Spectral 29 CF8 are both available now and I really want to order my new bike. What would you advice; start with the 'regular' Spectral of go straight to the Mullet. I'm still open, no prejudice. I've been riding a Cube 120 hpc in the bike park which opened so many doors, so with my new fully i'll definitely go on foreign trips.

hey! I don't think the difference is massive between the standard and the mullet. The biggest thing will be the full 29er will be faster and more stable. The mullet is more playful as a set up. The back swings around a bit more which is fun. Essentially it is a bit more playful from my understanding. And that is why I ride bikes, to play!

I'm considering buying this bike, but it would be a big investment for me. My one concern is about the rear shock during climbs. Is there a setting inbetween fully locked out and not at all locked out? I'd prefer climbing with some give so the rear wheel stays planted, but not so much that it costs me energy from bobbing.

To be honest, I never use the lock out on climbs. I don't think you'll need it unless you are on a steep long fire road. Its a fabulous bike!

I know this is ten months ago. I’m looking at this exact bike how has it held up 10 months later. And you mentioned the climbing feels good, do you still fell that way?

Yeah it is holding up well. I feel very at home on it and it has taken a battering in Italy and bike parks in Wales etc and held up. Genuinely can't pick any holes in it. One bit of advice would be to get it invisd like I did as the paint is very light in colour.

No, they didn't. That may have been useful but I think the spring I have is correct anyway. It climbs really well.
