Great video review! I'm ordering a new-build M50i on Monday, and this video sealed the deal. Although this is the largest BMW in production, it isn't as large as the much more common Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and Ford Expedition SUVs found here in North America. For me, as a longtime BMW owner (seven 7 series, 2 X5s in 35 years), this is the perfect 'Full Size' SUV. I was ready to pull the trigger on a loaded Tahoe High Country, but when the build crossed the $80k line, I just couldn't see spending that much on a "Chevy Truck". Staying with BMW for the foreseeable future. Thanks for the honest review!

@@ghq8982 Still in love with this car. I use it regularly to tow my 35' Fountain powerboat, which is about 10,000 lbs. all up weight on the trailer. It exceeds the published towing capacity of 7500 lbs. (plus 12% gradient), but I live in Florida and the terrain is flat. The X7 pulls it up the launch ramp without any effort. Now about 18 months old & 17,000 miles, the only issue I've had was when the motorized lower tailgate actuator failed. It was replaced the next day. Amazingly, the dealer had that part in stock. I had a tire damaged by a screw and looked everywhere to buy a new rear tire, but all sources were backordered. Learned later that BMW NA bought up the entire stock of the 315 series run-flat Continental rear tires. Again, amazingly, the dealer had one in stock and it was $150 cheaper than any retail store. Score! I still haven't tried 'Launch Control'. It isn't well documented in the manual. Might give it a try today! kzbin.info/www/bejne/inrRcmB9ltqdhNE

Great summary. I just picked up a 2022 X7 M50i used for my wife and I love it. Was in pristine condition with 38K miles on it for $64K USD. It is a fantastic family vehicle and I love it almost as much as my F10 M5 Competition. The air suspension is truly impressive and the engine performance is stonkingly fun. Fuel economy is a bit horrific, but what price, fun? Your review was spot-on. I hope you get to 300K subs before 2025!

475 is a normal annual road tax for a sporty petrol in Belgium. If you want this here, you'll have to empty your pockets and then some. it's about 6000 euro annual tax as a wild guess. An Aventador is just stupid money, you could buy a nice hatch for what you would pay!

Love the car, but getting in and out is a challenge for me as I have trouble bending enough to get my head in or out. We drove the X7 in M50 trim yesterday and love it. Probably will be her car soon. I think this is best 6/7 seat SUV on the mkt, it looks good, it handles v well and yet with all 3 rows of seats up you’re still left with decent cargo space unlike a Disco 5. The front imo looks better than the X5. The rear looks good, you commented on how upright the rear end is but I think it looks right. I personally prefer this to them SUV coupes like say an X6 or a Q8, I think they’re pointless, if you want an SUV to look like a regular hatch so much then it’s probably best to just buy a hatchback. those width in tyres are standard for the BMW's Joe!! the X5's have been rocking 315 width since the E53 Check out the Le Mans Blue edition. I'm surprised they didin't go for a more 'beefier' look.

You would be hard pressed finding any SUV than can take 7 people WITH luggage. I see ESV Escalades pull up at the airport all the time with four people hopping out and the rear "stuffed" with suitcases and bags, third row down of course. Even as an 8 seater your only choice is to use a roof box - fortunately they're not too much of an eyesore and can be removed when you don't need it. That said, I am an absolute fan of the X7. My only wish is that BMW put the V12 in it and do a M60i variant. That would be epic.

Well done on 100k subs! Well deserved. Can’t get my head around the X7, I’ve had a few 7 seaters and reality is most of us only use the 6 & 7 seats occasionally and for short distances..kids parties, events, cinema therefore the rears in the X5, XC90, Q7 et al are good enough. My issues would be that boot and all that leather, the point of these big 4x4’s is their utility, and being able to throw crap in to the tip or pick up a wardrobe etc...

Not really. The point is ultimate luxury. No one wants a luxury car anymore. The top tier luxury category is all about big high performance luxury SUV’s. Bentley, RR, Lamborghini, etc.... confirmed high end SUV’s are where it’s at and what the big dogs want to be seen in. A big luxury SUV that does 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds or less shows you can have it all in these big vehicles.

It’s way cooler than the RSQ8 in my opinion. You just need to spend a bit of time to see and feel it . The Q8 looks like Toyota Venza redesigned when you look at it a bit longer.

I know they’re not in the same class amenity wise but I’d like to see a comparison between this vehicle and the Hyundai Palisade. I feel they’re on par with respect to room, comfort and cargo space. And imagine the boat & track car you could tow behind your vehicle with an extra 70K. I really would be very interested to see that comparison.

That's some vehicle, Joe, it can certainly shift for the size of it, and I know there's not much space in the boot when all 6 seats are being used, but it still looks like a very spacious car, very airy looking to the front from the back and very comfortable, I'm not sure I would choose the ivory colour for the seat inserts though, I think that would get very dirty very quickly if it was in every day use if you know what I mean, it looked quite a wide car as well as you were driving down those country roads and the economy isn't great, but as you said yourself if you can afford a car of that price, then you're obviously not going to be worried about the economy, it looks very luxurious and congratulations on achieving 100,000 subscribers, onwards and upwards as they say

I have an x5 5.0 and I love it! However, I do need a bigger vehicle, for my ever growing children. I've driven, explores, Tahoes and other 7 seaters. Nothing is as sporty as a bmw and as good to drive. Nothing offers everything for everyone, I can't wait til a used x7 with the 4.4 will be available.

RSQ8 is 170k and it is a sport vehicle; X7 50i is 120K and it is "limousine"; RSQ8 and X5M Competition are in the same price range and performance, in my opinion.

Good review. Slightly unfair comparison with Disco Sport as it's a smaller car. For those with 3 young kids (9, 7 and 2), getting all of them on 2nd row is really important and bloody hard. All very well using the final back row but you lose boot space (useful if you've got push chair etc..) and you still need one seat clear on 2nd row to move forward to access the rear (which fully backed booster seats don't allow). Disco 4 we had was fine. Disco 5 is smaller across but just doable with baby seat in middle and fully backed boosters either side (took some searching to find seats that worked). Still then have ISOFIX in back rows and front passenger seat. So if grandparents staying, elder two kids move into rear. We tried the X7 and not a hope in hell of getting three across on 2nd row - way narrower. There is absolutely no way at all of getting baby seat in middle and then anyone sitting either side. Shame as otherwise, it's a lovely car, though given the state of the Disco after my lot being in it, all that luxury is probably wasted. Will stick with Disco for family bus and 7 series for me (kids allowed but no drinks/food!!). Once the older kids are out of booster seats, I suspect X7 will be on shopping list. Congrats on 100K Joe - well deserved!

Looked very closely at an X7 M50D before settling on a Q7. Beautiful interior, really classy apart from the lump of plastic on the floor in the second row which looks completely at odd with the rest of the car. Really wanted the six seat version until I found out that the second row does not fold flat so it really compromises the load space. In my opinion, the Q7 feels more composed on the road and has a superior ride quality, it is just a better all rounder even if it cannot quite match that class leading interior. Great review as always, always feel like cars get a proper test with you, 100 out of 10!

In the U.K. you only need a child seat until the child is 12 years old or they are 135cm tall which ever comes first, my seven year old is over 135cm but she is still in a seat for now
