Alexa! I loved this extra long blog and I would love more of this kind of thing in future. I never comment in KZbin but really thought I should now. IN THIS MOMENT. because I am an aspiring author nearly finished the edit of my first children's novel and honestly you're what's keeping me going because your passion and love for writing keeps me going. And all I can say is - keep it up! (For as long is healthy and good for you obviously!)

This video was really entertaining--- I'm so glad you got lots of writing done and I find all of your commentary interesting. I feel so inspired woo! That victorian house is a DREAM, by the way. Unlike this one that you got invited to, is there like a list of retreats posted anywhere? How the heck does one sign up to a cute one like that?

I want to build that beautiful house in the Sims! I also love your book reviews, and will pick up a few of them =) to answer your question, I prefer vlogs that are over shorter periods of time. When I realize I’m watching a video from weeks/months ago, it distracts me from the content and I would much rather see things that are more recent - of course, computer troubles are totally understandable!

I constantly had computer mishaps until about 18 months ago when my husband got me an Apple. It's not my favorite, but it survives my roughness and my life. My last computer died when I accidentally kicked a full 3/4 liter cup of water off my bedside table on to my computer. Yep, It died it was bad. I like the long period vlogs, but if they are going to be nearing an hour those are hard to watch. 40-45 minutes is about all the time I can normally spend on KZbin videos. That could just be me though. Now I have procrastinated enough. I have the last 2 chapters of my first novel to edit before sending it off to some betas.

Because you asked: I liked it, but because it was so long I watched it in several parts and skipped over some. It was as long as a TV show and I only go on youtube to get a 5-15 minutes break every now and then. I have so many responsibilities, I have to spend my time wisely. When I do have 40+ minutes to watch something, I watch a show or a movie with my family. I'd rather have separate reading vlogs/writing vlogs/life vlogs, just because of that. I would enjoy it more that way. Not that yours was bad or anything.

Question: Are these women-only retreats and festivals you attend? I feel like I don't see any men there. Or do men not write fiction?
@AlexaDonne5 жыл бұрын
All the retreats I have attended are YA retreats. YA is overwhelmingly written by women. Hence, more women. I'm sure there are retreats for SFF and literary fiction that are either majority men or have gender parity. The first retreat I did had some men--2 out of approximately 30 people (very accurate for YA). The ones I've coordinated myself or been brought in on have been all women because we are friends with each other and that's just how it happens.
