I love it when booksellers are excited to help you with whatever mission you come into the store with. QueerLit is on my bucket list (and so is Gay's the Word). Museum Bums is 100% going to be a Christmas gift for my sister. These are all discoveries for me as well and I will definitely be exploring many of them further to see if I want to order them.

So glad that you've found A HOME FOR ALL SEASONS, even if it you had to search in Oz! I have been into the wonderful Gay's the Word a couple of times to sign copies there - both hardback in 2022 and the paperback a couple of months ago. Thank you so much for featuring it!

Museum Bums looks like such a laugh. Enjoyed the idea of a competition to find you the right books! I keep meaning to go to The Bookish Type when I have an early finish at work (it's nearly next-door) but alas my early finishes keep turning into long days.

Just found your channel and I love it! Thank you so much for taking the time to research and film for this audience. Btw, in Asian cultures, 13 is considered a very lucky number. Cheers! 😺✌️

It looks like Emerson Whitney has an earlier memoir called Heaven about their youth, I wonder if it might make more sense to begin with that one for better context with who they are and where they’ve come from leading up to Daddy Boy? The American copy for the latter book emphasizes storm chasing more then sexuality. Hopefully some one who’s read one or both might comment about the books.

The latest book that I discovered at my local queer bookstore was After Sappho by Selby Wynn Schwartz-which I probably should have heard of because it was longlisted for the Booker Prize in 2022, but I am in the US, so we only kind of hear about the Booker Prize 😳 (And FYI, my local queer bookstore, Little District Books, delivers to the UK.)

I really need to read After Sappho, it sounds like exactly my kind of book!

Museum Bums made me laugh for two reasons, neither of which are queer, so I apologize in advance. First, when I was a young teen, my parents let me buy a book I don’t remember the title of, but it was just pictures of bums. I can’t remember if it was men and women or just men. Mostly clothed, but I do remember Sonny Bono’s bare bum in there. So, there’s that. Second, your story of you and Mary pointing out bums in museums made me remember a fabulous Rodin exhibit I went to at the British Museum probably 5+ years ago. I came back from the exhibit and immediately posted to my private DM group of friends on Twitter “well, that was a lot of penises.” 🤣🤣🤣 Put Cabin Fever on hold at the library. Definitely sounds like one I’ll like.

Is there a specific book prize for LGBTQI books? There used to be the Green Carnation prize but I don’t know if anything replaced it.

Yes, the Polari Prize is the annual UK LGBTQ prize. I've talked about it before, but I've been quite disappointed by the longlists over the past few years that I decided not to read any of them this year

Did you receive your copy of Julian?
@JentheLibrarianreads Жыл бұрын
No, but unfortunately I don't have time for any new books at the moment, as I have to concentrate on reading through what I already have on my shelves.
