NEW Brooks Hyperion Max 2 Review -- The Plated Shoe of the People!

Considering this shoe for an upcoming marathon. Around 8:00-8:30 pace. Any thoughts to consider? It’s my first experience with any kind of plated shoe.

This, the endorphin speed/pro, and the magic speed (as stated below) are all some of the best options for you in my opinion. I’d wager the Hyperion max is the heaviest but you’ll be about as comfortable as you could be with it. I personally enjoy using it. Probably at about 100 miles on it and it’s holding up well. That intro tho 😄 I never cared for Brooks much but I've been super hyped for this shoe to come out. I like a non-carbon plated trainer for my 10-12 mile long runs so I'll be trying this. It's also such a great looking shoe as well.

It’s such a clean look alone. Brooks have always been good to me but have grown on me considerably in the last year. I think they get stuck in the category of being “old people shoes”. They’re actually quite modern and up-to-date now. This is great for longer runs where you’re not trying to beat up your feet.

First review of this I'm seeing. Been wondering when this shoe would surface. My only criticism is this: I believe it more useful to compare to other brands' competing models than to compare within a brand or even within a model (i.e. last year's vs. this year's). The Max1 will live on as H2. I wonder how this stacks up against Endo Speed, Mach X, and Magic Speed (v4 seems to be moving in the Slyward X/Prime X direction but v3 should be very analogous to this shoe). Anyway, cool video!

Appreciate the constructive criticism, Brian. I can tell you it feels pretty similar to the endorphin speed 4. It feels like the Hyperion has more pop but I like them both. As for the others I’m not too sure.

How does it feel to walk in ? I found the first version clunky in the heel when stepping due to the rear taper ... does this version have the same feeling ?

It’s pretty similar though with the change in the drop to a 6mm it is a noticeably different shoe. The extra cushion throughout the stack of the shoe makes it much nicer to walk around in in my opinion. I didn’t care for a original as a walking shoe

Nice review! How is the tongue? It sounds comfortable. I’m looking for a triathlon shoe for Olympic distance race (10k) sockless with elastic laces. I have previously raised in Takumi sen but find the upper to fiddly for triathlon races. I definitely fit that description of someone looking for a cheaper introduction to plated shoe.

The tongue gave me zero trouble. It’s very seamless and I guess good to go sockless in if you want. I had no issues with arch pain from the plate and despite being a little on the cushier side it had a lot of pop to it. I think if it was slightly firmer it would be perfect. It’s a great place to start with a played shoe, I’ll stand by that.

Sir for 800 meter adidas adizero audios 8 is a good option Or i go with Asics magic speed 3 Please please sir suggest me from these two shoes

For what distance are you interested in. For the 800 I’m not really sure, maybe a dragonfly. Between what you said I’d take the magic speed 3. Asics is my go-to brand

This shoe has actually been out for over a week. It’s strange as to why the shoe-tube reviewers don’t have it. Did Brooks embargo the reviews? Seems strange for a shoe that’s already out and available for purchase.

Asics magic speed 3 with a full length carbon plate in that price range is miles above Hyperion max

You’re probably right. Though, I’d wager the new Hyperion is more comfortable. Carbon can be rough for some people the first time. I’ve also seen a lot of reviews saying the magic speed is stiff (I know my meta speed edge is). The Hyperion would be better for more casual runs/runners.

Big Magic Speed Fan here. But you're comparing it to the old Max, not this new one you haven't worn which may be similar to MS.

I find the first too be a brick but I just got it for $100 and I’ve been doing fast runs on the treadmill and to me the shoe is only good when your moving
