I use all configurations of this antenna for nearly 20 years now. My favorite configuration is the vertical dipole, quick to set up, and it is a great performer hands down. From to up to 10 meters, (monoband) I do not use coils anymore, I prefer to use it full lenght. For six meters, I use their kit to built a 2 or 3 elements beam, and it works great. Keep on the very good work and a BIG THANKS for sharing this video, it is very much appreciated. All the very best , 73 Mike VE2TH

I had a chance to talk to the owner awhile back when checking on an order. Super friendly and helpful. He mentioned the updated BuddiStick and I'm really excited to see it. Great company and I'll be glad to snag one once they are ready.

Awesome! Yeah, Chris the owner is a solid guy and his company puts out well engineered products.

I live in an HOA and the Buddipole allows me to be on the air when I want. I've received my WAS, DXCC, US Counties(750) and many others using different configurations of the Buddipole. My favorite configuration for DX is the vertical with two counterpoise wires. Using an antenna analyzer I'm able to get the SWR to 1.5 to 1.0 or less depending on the band. If you go to the Buddipole Facebook page you will see at the top of the page my vertical dipole configuration setup in my back yard.

Very cool! Yeah, there different configurations are great options. So the photo with the pound/lake in the background?

I have just set up my buddipole about an hour ago, as an indoor antenna connecting it to my Elecraft K1. It has been years since I have been active. My call is ve5zw & ve7zwa (which I am presently operating under as I live along the Alaska Highway in Northern B.C. This was (and I believe shall be) my go to antenna for portable operation. Where I am living now I cannot install an outdoor antenna, so I will see how it preforms indoors this winter.

Cool! I used to talk to Budd on the HFpack nets and the email reflector and I remember back when he was developing the prototype. Still catch him on 17m from time to time.

Oh good deal! Yeah, Budd is good people. It would be fun to get him on a KZbin video in the future.

I think I was one of the original users. I was (re)licensed in 2000 and did a homebrew BP which I took up on Mt. Constitution (Orcas Island, WA). A couple picnicing there ask me if it was a BP which astounded me because it was so new and they weren't hams. It turns out they lived next to Chris's Dad so they knew about it. Subsequently I bought the whole BP system. I met Chris and Budd many times later and did a SOTA session on Little Si with Chris and the pQRP group at Salmoncom. Barry, VE7VIE/WV2J

Hi Chris. My name is Denis VA3DCB. I live in Northern Ontario Canada. This year at Dayton I bought the Buddipole deluxe long version and last year I bought the buddistick pro. I have not tried them yet but will be soon. Next year I’m planning on buying the buddyhex beam. Your product is so well made. My question is what height is the lowest that i can use the hex beam. What would be the best height. I know you have 3 different tripods. Thanks for your help Chris. 73. Denis VA3DCB.

Can this be a perminant antenna? Will it hold up to sun and weather? Id like to use it full time on my 46 foot aluminum spider mast....will it handle 600 watts? Just saw this and i want it. Lol
@HamRadioTV3 жыл бұрын
I don't know the life span of it, if kept up all the time. That would be a question for Buddipole. That said, it's designed and made to be packed up and traveled with and the parts are made to be lightweight compared to a permanent Hex beam. This a resonant antenna and just uses wire, so it will take full legal limit.
@Yaegermeister1633 жыл бұрын
I don't see the buddihex on the website yet. Any updates?

I talked to W3FF a little bit about that hex beam a week ago, he talked about mounting it to his tri bike, can this be a permanent base antenna?
@HamRadioTV3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it can be mounted permanent. But the materials are specially made for light weight and portability.

75 watts !!! ??? On FT8 ? I’m in Wisconsin and worked Australia with 2 watts and a Vertical (HF9V) last night on 30 meters. I was angry I couldn’t work Indonesian stations running 15W. ☺️
@Aramalas3 жыл бұрын
I run FT8 on whatever wattage works. Sometimes 10w gets out for me, other times it takes 100w.
@HamRadioTV3 жыл бұрын
I get it, you can do a lot with lower watts. It kind of reminds me of four wheeling through mud. You might get through it in 2WD but, I would kick it into 4WD because I have it and it might work better. lol
