This lens would be a success for Meike, because of that: 1) I see a certain amount of 3D Pop into the images (OOF rendering & microcontrast) 2) The price is really fair (179 EUR) - one can't ask for less 3) It's big and huge, also with the lens hood, and plastic - but really, for that money, well made 4) The IQ does look good enough, especially considering the asking price 5) USB port for firmware updates, so if there are performance enhancements, compability issues - Meike easily could fix that via FW update 6) 58mm is not too huge, not too expensive in terms of filter size 7) It's avialable for Nikon Z, Leica L and Sony E-Mount systems 8) It does have AF 9) It does even feature a rubber gasket at the bajonet mount (rare for such an inexpensive lens), so i assume this lens is at least some kind of splash and dust proof, when using with a front mounted filter 10) It's a 35mm F2 AF lens - price to performance ratio seems to be extraordinary

Exactly! One thing I forgot to mention in the video about the Meike 35mm f/2 is that it has a warm tone, which looks great during the morning and golden hour.

Just ordered one for my OG Leica SL. Already have the 50mm with zero complaints. Might add the 85 to have the trinity for my reportage kit. If/when Meike makes a 24mm or 28mm, I'll be scooping that up too. Cheers!

How would you say this compares to the 7artisans 35mm f1.4 you reviewed. I know the obvious differences like af and metal vs plastic, but which did you prefer to use or had better image quality/ character?
@AndreiDimaReviews3 ай бұрын
I think both lenses have some nice characteristics, but I prefer the Meike 35mm f2. It has nice contrast and a warm tone I forgot to mention in the video.
@aylenstudios3 ай бұрын
Awesome I think that decided it for me. It’s got af if I want it and a gasket to protect the camera for basically the same price. What’s not to like? Any chance you’ve tried the Pergear 35mm f1.4? It seems to be another decent option, and is the cheapest of the 3

Opinions on this vs the Yongnuo 35mm f/2? I also have a Nikon Zf. I like that the Yongnuo is smaller; but I can get a Viltrox 35/1.8 used for the same price as a new Yongnuo... In terms of image quality I think they're all fine enough, surprisingly enough I'm not very picky there, maybe since 35mm is my favorite focal length. I do think the Meike and the Yongnuo look a tad out of place on a Zf, while the Viltrox matches better but is also the biggest out of the three.

This one has better AF and image quality than the Yongnuo. I never used the Viltrox.

@ElementaryWatson-1233 ай бұрын
@@AndreiDimaReviews why would "budget" even be a part of the equation? At this price level a couple hundred dollars more or less make no difference. The error of all these Chinese companies is thinking that you can win the competition on price alone -- you can't.

@@ElementaryWatson-123 When I say budget, I don’t necessarily mean just the price of the lens; I’m also referring to the budget behind its development. Price alone? This lens offers very good AF, solid image quality, and even a rubber gasket for $160. That’s more than just price.

Apparently the company doesn't think beauty has much of a value. They don't understand that a large appeal of Zf is the looks, and people wouldn't want an ugly thing mounted on it.
