Yeah it looks like they had a design flaw in this year’s model because for some reason this has been happening to a lot of people Cabrina did hook Pepper up with a new chicken loop and that solved her problem good luck thanks for watching

I have two new Cabrinha bars - same design as in the video, with the white QR. Both bars have done this - I had body dragged through surf and was diving the kite to start - and the chicken loop unhooked. It happened with both bars and WITHOUT activating the QR.

I am so glad I found this video. I have been using my Contra for the past 2 days in Turks and Caicos. This happened to me 2 days in a row now. I have the 2019 Contra and haven’t really used it much until now. It happens once before at home. Any recommendations how to fix this ? The 2019 bar is well out of warranty.

I’ve had it happen with that newer Cabrinha bar several times now after years of no problems with a few different prior year Cabrinha bars. It’s pretty annoying/dangerous.

Thanks for the video. I have en Cabrinha bar of 2019 and this slipping of happens nearly every day i go kiting. I thought is was about my technic, but now I am sure. This bar is unsafe.

Thanks for this!!! I just had this happen and couldn't figure out what had gone wrong. I kite in the ocean and now I"m hesitant to use this bar. Is this on the 2019 and 2020 bars? Any suggestions on what do do?

It was a new one at the time I think 2019 u can tell by color

@@TomLeeman Now I know the reason. The black knot between the quick release and the bar should be easy rotate. My bar and I thing also some others ones, doesn't rotate freely. This course the chicek loop will skewed and slipping of the hook. So check if your chicken loop can rotate without friction. There will be a production or test problem in the production line.

Cabrinha kindly replaced the bar with a newer (used) bar. Haven’t tried it yet, but the chicken loop on the newer bar is much firmer than the bar shown above which “pretzeled” off the harness hook.

Happened to me a few times also mid air holding on for live haha. Also the switchblades 2020 and 2021 have wrong designed air valves. Sold all, never again

I had a different but similar problem with the 2018 bar. The chicken loop has released itself while I was changing direction. Any ideas?

They have made the chick loop smaller for new models when you turn it pulls off of your hook

This happened to me yesterday with the new kite, and has happened twice in the last month (just got this new kite last month). Had a massive kitemare. I am writing to them to see if I can get my money back. This is a safety issue, this is extremely dangerous.

They replaced the chicken stick, but 2 days ago I was flying kite on East wind by shoreline and boom kite came off my harness (even bought a new harness) and it almost hit a high rise on the beach. Thank goodness the safety worked. Please let me know what their response is.

Happened to me today about 500m out after a 2 minute run. I thought I hit the release somehow during power stroke as I was messing with the power adjustment but then when finally made it to the shore (on jetski - thank you Miguel and Jesus :) I see the chicken loop is in its place. I thought I did not put in the donkey dick correctly but this explained it). Will talk to my kite school tomorrow to get $$ back and bring this crap bar to their attention).
