It is my first time using a heat mat so I’m looking forward to the results. During winter, the sun moves and I don’t get as much sun in my window. I have enough grow lights but not sufficient heat. I’m hoping this helps.

That Vivosun is top quality, just by the packaging alone, tells you it's good stuff! Love that grow light! Nice added extra is the safety glasses, and great heat mat too, I know its been a long time ... I remember you saying about getting one...mine will be turned back on again soon as the temperatures begin to dip now as we go into Autumn here in the UK... I'm like you, I like sowing cactus seeds in Autumn and Winter, and lights and heat mats make it possible! Loved this video! 😃👍🌵

Hi Claire. Oh do you have a heat mat? How long do you keep yours on? Is it the same time and duration as the growlight? Haha. Sorry. I’ve never had one before.

@@CactusCaffeine Yes I have 4 heat mats...2 I attached to my propagator trays myself and have the clear lids, (I did a video a while back on the DIY Propagator 😄) and another 2 heat mats not in use yet...😄 Yes, I keep the heat mats turned on for the same time and duration as the grow lights, because even cactus seedlings need to experience some drop in temperature at night, so they stay off over night. I have one heat mat attached to a thermostat to maintain my set temperature, my other heat mats have integrated thermostat temperature control dials. A good tip is to make sure your heat mat is on a good surface to insulate the heat so it travels up and not down and wasted. So, place heat mat onto a Wooden surface, or use cardboard sheet or polystyrene sheet, anything that will insulate the heat. The Vivosun branded heat mat you have may already have the insulation incorporated within the waterproof covering, so by design it may not need anything put under it, so in that case you can place the mat onto what ever surface. Hope this helps. 🤗👍
