Thanks - it's a bit of a rush to cover things until the printer goes back to Canon ;-) Glad it's of interest

Excellent pro work Keith! I just got my self the 1100 model, not unpacked yet, need to find a table first :) your suggestions have and will be even more valuable when i do the unboxing and testing and when you come to Iceland for the northern lights, i owe you a free tour for all your help :)

Thanks Keith, I appreciate they way you share your in depth knowledge. When I got my Pro-1000, I kept my choices simple to just use the heavyweight Canon papers - Pro Platinum, Pro Lustre and Premium Fine Art Smooth. I've found it gives me enough choice to have a paper to suit the image subject matter.

Thanks - yes, those three will meet many needs...

Hello Keith, I just received my new Pro-1100 some days ago. Your reviews have been verry helpful to select my new printer. 😊 Coming from a IPF5000 I am quite happy with the new printer. Now I want to setup some additional paper with the Media Configuration tool. Based on the selected paper I start from I get different presets, different parameter I can modify and different availability of feed trays (for example Baryta is only available at the manual feed tray. No idea why.) I would like to know the following: If I start from different papers but change all parameters in the tool to identical values (height, ink usage, black ink type and profile) are you getting identical paper media parameters (except feed tray) or is there some additional magic behind based on the paper you start from? Just called Cannon support, but my feeling was they did not even understood the question and were not familiar with the Media Config. Tool. Thanks for your help. Peter

Thanks Yes, there are some differences, but as I mentioned, discussing this in the main written review, we just don't know what they are... When testing the 1000 I used the heavy art paper setting for a lot of papers, since it works with the top feed - seemed OK. For the 1100 testing I used different settings, so some papers had to go in the back. I've no firm info on what is actually the best - Canon simply don't give out enough media setting info [nor do Epson, to be fair]. Just look at the new greyscale and long media settings for the 1100 - no serious info about what they do

Loving the Channel Keith, we'll done. A question on papers... What are your thoughts, if any, on Marrutt papers?
@KeithCooperАй бұрын
Thanks Good papers - just not tested any for about 20 years ;-) I can only really test papers I'm sent, since I couldn't afford to buy stuff just for testing [this is one reason I don't specifically recommend papers... If I've tested something and have a profile, it likely worked just fine with that printer]

A well said. Only question: why not test Iford papers for inkjet?
@KeithCooperАй бұрын
Thanks - Nothing against that brand... Just get someone at the company to contact me to discuss it, and send me some, and they get added to the list ;-) I cannot afford to buy paper just for this sort of testing.

Hello Keith, have you ever looked into Dye Sub printing for photoprinting? I personally like the smoot feel of the prints i can get from my printstore, but looked at that technology for personal use.
@KeithCooperАй бұрын
Not something I've ever looked at - for me it's a tool to make mouse mats T shirts and mugs ;-) Maybe next year when I get access to a wider range of printers

Keith, I got a Pro 200 and would like to get into to the 1000/1100 models. You can currently get both "new" here - but the 1000 is about 300 Euros less expensive than the 1100. Is the 1100 enough of an improvement to warrant those 300 Euros price hike? (Otherwise those 300 could be spent on paper/ink instead). Both printers look pretty much the same to me - except that the 1100 uses "improved" ink. But I have no idea how much they really did improve the inks or if it's just Canon's marketing department running wild?

Read my main review - where I cover just this [it also links in all of my PRO-1100 videos] www.northlight-images.co.uk/canon-pro-1100-printer-review/

Hi Keith, with the icc profiles, I normally use Ilford papers (in Australia) but they don’t have profiles for this printer yet. I believe Canon has another printer with the same ink as the 1100, do you know what printer that is? I am assuming those profiles should work?
@KeithCooperАй бұрын
You mean the pro-2600/4600? Profiles [if you can find them] will be similar but not the same
@GarySteegsАй бұрын
@@KeithCooper It must be Christmas... I checked the website this morning and they now have icc profiles for the 1100. Now I just need the printer.. Thanks
