It's been really fun watching you discover all these for the first time! Buffer seemed to catch you up this round, that's the 3 squares in line looking buff, and it ignores a single instance of damage, no matter the amount. You were getting it from the Fossilized Helix, and that frustrating moment against the Ironclad was because the defect gives out Buffer when it dies.

The reason why ironclad survived explosion was that defect died and gave him and you 2 buffer. Buffer is a status preventing the next instance of damage taken, so it nullified your attack and soulflame. On the flipside you could take two extra hits so it was pretty unlikely for you to die in the aftermatch. Still funny to see giant explosion doing nothing. Sad to see defeat, but I don't think this deck had any real chance to win with this combination of effects.

On that first block card you saw: It doesn’t have a downside. You can play it for 7 block, or you can let it die in your hand for 7 block AND a blur. The reason it’s worded strangely is because the effect is “Gain 7 block when played”, Afterlife says when a card is exhausted its effects activate so when it’s exhausted, you gain 7 block. On top of that, you ALSO gain a bonus blur if it’s exhausted. The “downside” is that it’s an effective block card you’d add to your deck that is better than the default Defend, but its bonus effect can only activate at the cost of not being able to play it again the rest of combat without a way to bring it back.

As a second comment: I had forgotten how insane this character was for new players. I think it took Rhapsody like 3 or 4 entire episodes on just this character alone to where they felt comfortable playing with the character’s ignition mechanics. He also greatly helped the creator of the mod fix a lot of inconsistencies with the timing of abilities counting towards Igniting the active ghost flame if I recall. But he also had to experiment with like… if you play the attack that detonates Soulburn does it proc the flame, apply the Soulburn, and then blow it up? Does Float count towards your second skill? Took him several episodes to break all of that down. This character is very detailed and very specific, but I think quickly became one of Rhaps’ favorites due to how.. mechanical? they are. Mechanical as in they have complicated interactions that you have to test yourself but you’re then rewarded greatly for doing so. Basically, the skill ceiling on this guy is a lot higher than other characters if you put in the effort to learn them

I know these runs go long, but really hope to see a lot more of this. While I'm sure you already know, but a lot of the time will be cut down when you become at least somewhat familiar with the characters. Since there's just so much to learn and understand with these characters first time through. I really love this mod and awesome to see you play it.

Plus, you've played tons of roguelikes, you know how it goes, these runs will get much much shorter the more you play, especially considering you've only played these 3 characters once so far. Definitely loving this series! I'm impressed with how quickly you grasp enough of each boss's mechanics to always get to the end. Gonna keep rooting for you as you destroy the intruders. Curious to know how the Champion works: will it be more or less complicated than the previous characters? Looking forward to finding out!

a thing you probably didnt notice is that its ideally to play forked flame on the 3rd(right most) flame and the 5th(left bottom) flame in order to proc the 4th(give str and block). Also, playing a power on the 4th flame and then use any "ignite current flame " card will also give you more str its actually better to think of ways to mess around with proccing the 4th flame repeatedly rather than going through the whole wheel

13:35 the enemy only takes 4 damage from the soulburn even though it looks like the soulburn triggers after reaching 8 damage. It probably doesn't proc the soulburn that wasn't already on the enemy.

"It's just a slay the spire problem" sounds a bit rough :D. I, personally, think that any good Rogue-Like gets faster and not longer, and slay the spire does this a bit too well. When you are fresh with it, and you are with this mod, it takes around 2 hrs, but the second run is already only 1.5 hours and then the next one is 1 hour, and you steadily progress with your knowledge what speeds up the runs a lot (per Character). In the end, let me additionally say that I would watch the lets plays, but I would also love to see more wanky Rouge-Likes. So, its entirely up to you. I am fine with both decisions.

Really interesting run and character. I like the mini game of igniting all the flames. I saw that you get some buff for igniting the last flame with all 6, but I don't know what it does. Anyone know what that was?

A positive status effect that increase by 2 damage/block/soulburn on the thing that happens when you ignite a flame
