Update: Genshin just posted that this Mondstadt Chronicled Wish banner will only last March 13 to April 2 (so essentially phase 1). This is definitely shorter than I hoped :/ that being said, you certainly have to save/prepare appropriately if you plan on wishing on this.

People, please keep very solidly in your mind that this banner is fully designed to drain you of primos and intertwined fates so that you spend more on featured characters. It's fine if you want specific things from it, but DO NOT WISH unless you have enough to get to pity twice. You lose that 50/50, it's completely wasted. It's the scammiest thing they've done yet (outside of maybe weapon banner).

I do wonder it using acquaint fates would be legal. Cause they have limited characters there so they should always use limited currency unless the character was revealed to be also obtainable thru acquaint fates at a later date (i.e. Tighnari or Dehya). Besides it would suck for people that don't save the acquaint fates compared to the people that do, because they essentially have a bunch of wishes saved up for limited characters and the people that didn't save get screwed over because they can't see the future.

@@Lacirev you're right, there might be legal reasons why they couldn't do that. but i don't agree with what you said about saving acquaint fates, if you saved up then you should be rewarded for doing that, i don't save them but i wouldn't begrudge people who did. And being able to use acquaint fates would benefit everyone since this banner would be much better to use them on than standard, but also standard would becomes completely pointless so that's another reason why they wouldn't do that.

They've already confirmed that if you go after a 5* character you won't get any weapons, and vice versa. There's precious hope this applies to 4* as well! I for one am sick of getting a weapon when trying for a new 4* character

Honestly, since they were going to just put old units in here they should do one of the two options below (Dont have to do both, but 1 of them would be fine) (1) just do a guarantee on the unit you want when you pull a 5*. or (2) Allow the use of Intertwined fate and Acquaint fate. it would at least be it tempting, but a with a 50/50 and Intertwined fates, I rather just save for new units.

Honestly for weapons, its so much better than weapon banner. I lost twice, twice. Raiden's weapon and Furina's weapon. I lost so many wishes getting them and was contemplating getting broken pines. Don't think I'll pull for broken pines although. Since I unfortunately don't have enough for guarantee.

I feel your pain, I really do. I, too, pulled to get Engulfing Lightning and got two of The Unforged that I'm not using at all. I did end up getting the Engulfing Lightning since I had saved up in advance and had time to do some frantic scrambling to get last-minute primos but I have not pulled on the weapons banner since. I absolutely hate it. This will be my saving grace

Well my hope was triple banners. In that case hoyo would have had a lot of pressure to do individual weapon banners like Star Rail. Individual weapon banners would be much better than this for weapons. For the char side, it seems like a draw maybe a bit better.

I don't think this is THAT bad like some people said it is. It sure is not very worth it for us, older player. But I can think of it as a win-win. Newer players will have their opportunity to get old characters in cheaper way (they can lose to anothe limited character). And older players will get newer characters on rerun more often and maybe we can get older character's constellation more easily.

I will only probably pull on this banner if/when the Jade Cutter appears on it. 😅 Overall, I think this Chronicled Wish is best for weapons like the Jade Cutter, Hunter's Path, and Beacon. Not sure if they're ever going to put low-demand or less appealing signature weapons (e.g., Vortex Vanquisher, Everlasting Moonglow), but I'm pretty sure the stronger ones (e.g., Homa, Aqua) WON'T be making an appearance... but hopefully, they do. Hehe. The only reason I can see being worth it to pull on the Chronicled Banner for characters is if you're looking to snipe standard characters or if you like all of the characters in it. Like, I wouldn't mind "losing" in a Chronicled Banner composed of Tartaglia, Baizhu, Kokomi, Tighnari, Jean, and Cyno (but this banner has a loooooow chance of happening, I think, LOL). It looks to be regional right now, though, but this is only the first Chronicled Banner so there are sure to be changes coming in the next editions. All that being said, the bottom line is still: save for the characters you want. As the saying goes, patience is a virtue-even more so in gacha games. Good luck, everyone!

One other pro for this banner (specifically this lineup) is if you are a beginner then this banner is guaranteed to give you a character that you can fully level up in mondstadt/early liyue as opposed to rushing to Fontaine to get mats for Chiori... But of course pull for who you want!

@@Goremize I mean it depends on how new is new, and how far they've gotten in the Story. Maybe they've been focusing on getting 100%, and are FAR from unlocking new areas. Maybe someone hasn't spent a ton of time, and has built up a lot using Blessings of The Moon for instance. That's 18.75 wishes per month, outside of what they get from Exploration, Special Events, etc.

Another note about standard characters is even if they aren't meta, that doesn't mean that can't become meta in the future. I mean 4.2 gave us Furina which validated everyone who ever invested in Jean, and just recently we got cloudyun which did the same for Diluc players. There's always a chance something like this will come around for other old characters, especially since the devs seem to be focusing on that this version

That being said, it's definitely less likely for some characters to shine. Qiqi just doesn't offer anything other characters don't have. Jean was the only anemo full-team healer. Diluc has the biggest plunge attack multiplier. Qiqi isn't best at anything. Even with Furina she's not good.

I personally think this kind of banner is alright. It's basically just any event exclusive character banner, just that the guaranteed 5* doesn't carry over the next patch. While that is a valid reason why people would be upset, I think it is important to note that the characters they featuring here are characters that wasn't given a rerun FOR AGES. That means that they are cayered for people who badly wanted a rerun so they saved a lot of fates that could guarantee getting them. Also, it should be noted that with this banner, there's a chance you get another limited character just by losing. In the normal character banner, if you lose 50:50, you have no choice but to settle on a standard character, a character you likely already have like QIQI, Jean, Dliuc, Mona, Keqing, Dehya, and Tighnari. In this banner however, if you for example, picked Albedo, if you lost 50:50, there's a chance you'll get Klee or Eula (which are limited characters). Also, it is significantly better (really sugnificantly better) than the current weapon banner. So I think it is alright. It has ups and downs when compared to the normal event character banners, but the ups are enough for me to justify that it is not bad as what people think. I think they are inflating its cons but do not even say the pros here.

This banner can be situationally good if you're one of those people who are LOCKED ON getting a character - meaning whether you lose 50/50 or not, you would push eitherways getting the character simply because you want them. With that said, these people tend to be banner skippers and save up at least 160 wishes for that character and comparing normal limited event banner to the new chronicle banner. The new chronicle banner would be better as the new banner gives you a chance to lose to LIMITED 5 stars. Personally, the new banner should just be considered as a small nice addition. One can simply ignore it and nothing would change but with proper planning, the new banner can be advantageous to some extent. At least for someone like me who aims to collect all the characters. Sure, I can just do the same save method on regular limited event banners but thing is, there would be times that the limited characters included in the chronicle banner are characters I still don't have. At least, on the chronicle banner, I am given the chance to get two limited 5 stars that I still don't have. I could have selected Albedo, lose to Eula and get Albedo since I initially saved up enough for him anyway and I would sleep with two less characters to collect. While it's true that the new banner does not guarantee you losing to a LIMITED 5 star, it's still better than not having any chance at all and even if you already have the other limited 5 stars in the pool, getting their cons wouldn't be that all bad cause most players tend to stop pulling on banner reruns once they already have the said character but with the new chronicle banner, you can lose to them not to mention players who have been playing for so long probably have at least 2 standard 5 stars who are almost at C6 or already at C6. I am one of those players so I pretty much would not want to lose to another Keqing 😂

agreed, the fate points not carrying over is the worst thing.. but when you have a weapon banner that has two 5 star limited weapons and ten 5 star off banner weapons with a damn 2 fate points for a guarantee.. it makes the weapon pulls from this banner a lot more bearable, just because of the existence of 2 one-time run 5 star weapon (Dehya and Tighnari weapons), 1 limited 5 star weapon (Eula weapon), and 7 off banner 5 star weapons.. with only 1 fate point for guarantee

it's nice to have choices. i'm a BP only spender and in case a patch doesn't have limited banners i want, i could just see the lineup for Chronicled Wish and then decide if i want to hold or spend. i want 5★ weapons but i don't want to spend 210 (worst case scenario) wishes to get something i want. this banner allows me to get a weapon (like tighnari's bow) i want for 160 (again, worst case scenario) wishes. doubly so if it lasts the entire patch. at least this allows me to target standard banner 5★ (especially Jean) without having to pray to RNGesus for them to spook me. also, this banner will let you target constellations without having to wait 10 patches worth of banners for the reruns.

I've actually gotten Tighnari (sp?), Diluc, and then Qiqi since fontaine. Got Tighnari pulling on Yelan. Too bad, wanted her since her launch and kept putting her off. Then decided to go for Neuvillette and I always go for archons so Yelan was put off again. Then got Diluc after getting Neuvillette since I decided to put some extra wishes in before Furina because C1 Neuvillette wouldn't have been a bad thing. Ended up spending all my remaining wishes getting Furina C2 and got Qiqi along the way. Meanwhile I'd gotten C3 Jean and Keqing and C2 mona over the years (and 2 skyward atlas and 2 lost prayers).

I am SO tempted for Hunter's Path as a tighnari lover and as someone who tried (and failed) to get it all the way back in 3.0. but my issue is 4.5 is so stacked against me. The geo weapon banner is perfect for me (I love Noelle and Albedo to pieces and they deserve upgrades) and ive been slowly trying to c6 my kazuha (rn at c3). theres honestly too much to pull right now and my 90 wishes arent cutting it.

I've seen this kind of banner in a lot of gacha games once they've been out long enough and I think it's the right call. I was pleasantly surprised that it's still 50/50 before guarantee rather than just being any of the characters or weapons on the banner for the first 5* cause that's how it usually is. The weapon fate point system still sucks but I'd rather pull on this banner than the regular weapon banner. I will never forget taking over 220 pulls for engulfing lightning during raiden's first banner...

even tho many people think this banner is trash you have to just relize it enables many people to get more consts for older character. imagine pulling for albedo and klee and along the way get eula consts!!! its a potential game changer, instead of c7 qiqi you get c2 eula. And in future, like inazuma banner, its gonna be even cooler. You can pull for Ayaka and get consts for Itto, Raiden, Yoimiya, Yae at the same time. People wont have to pull for constalations dilbiretly, they can just get consts randomly.

For your second point though, while it's likely they'd include Ayaka, Yae, Yoimiya. I doubt any Archon will ever make their way onto this new banner type.

They're using that banner for low selling characters. While I do believe Itto and Yoimiya are going to be included, I think it's unlikely they include Ayaka or Miko and downright impossible they include Raiden. Perhaps Ayato as the 3rd Inazuma character?

Venti is not on this banner so it's safe to assume no Archon would be featured, but there are still a lot of good characters that are not Archon. So if you are willing to wait long enough (around 2 reruns of your favorite character) you could potentially have a more favorable banner where you could lose your pity to limited characters instead of Qiqi or Dehya (unless). However there is no rated up 4 starsso you would be out of luck trying to get some cons for some essential supports for some of the 5 stars (like Gorou for Itto or Faruzan for Wanderer/Xiao) This could be a better weapon banner if you only want a single weapon.

I think this banner is quite efficient. I can probably optimize my chances on this banner. This banner is definitely for skippers and savers. It doesn't matter if it uses acquaint or intertwined because they cost basically the same in the long run. My only issue here is why there aren't still any guarantee mechanic for 4 stars.

The 3rd banner is basically a new choice and while yes, the course system is unfair for the characters, the weapons however is a win. It gives players a new choice to *spend their money* on each weapon banner. "Should I chance on this 2/3 feature weapon and not get skyward weapons? Or limited myself to a 50/50 chance for these limited time weapons?"

It'd make sense to keep this banner as a regular thing during the whole version, idk why they decided to run it only for one phase. But maybe they just testing things out and may change it in the future. I think loosing fate points is a total skam and it's the only bad thing, because overall this banner is good if u finally want to get a long-wanted character

Probably the ONLY reason for me to pull on this banner would be to get the bacon, and PJC if it ever appears in a cycle refresh. Even then... I think I'd rather save for future characters. The usage of intertwined fates is a MASSIVE reason for me to outright ignore this.

Acquaint fates wouldn’t be much of a difference tho, they’re worth the same amount of primos as intertwined. If anything I think we actually get intertwined fates much more often than we get acquaints so you’d be using primos regardless

Having C4 Jean sounds juicy but I'm not a fan of using interwtined for a standard character; also a 90 pity on weapons for an intertwined requiring banner sounds bad. I dunno I don't think I'll ever pull on one, the only thing I truly like about it is that you can lose a 50/50 and still get a limited character.

@@Personpersonpersonperson To use instead of her as then you have your group healer and have a cleanse and give yourself atk speed buffs and large anemo res shred and needing much less ER to be effective as Faruzan needs C6 to even be usable. Plus if you don't like Faruzan's playstyle or personality that works too. Jean is extremely good on Anemo teams at C4.

@@Goremize at least for xiao, c0 faruzan has no energy problems at all because you should be playing triple anemo and if you are an anemo enjoyer you most likely are gonna choose the best anemo support which is faruzan anyway. If a person likes wanderers awful personality, im sure they can tolerate faruzan. Xianyun is way better for Xiao anyway Bennett can be used for Wanderer Healing isnt an issue

I want to preface this with don’t pull unless you have the wishes. This banner is for the people who are good at saving and could actually be really good for new players who want more limited characters. Even though the only reason someone should pull for a character on it is if you already do have the 180 wishes, this banner has the chance of losing the 50/50 on a limited time character instead of a standard character. Say I’m a new player and I wanted to pull for an older 5 star character and have the wishes, I could either pull on the chronicle banner or wait for their limited banner. Choosing to pull on the chronicle banner means it’s guaranteed to be a character, no possibility of a weapon, and there’s a chance of losing 50/50 to a different limited 5 star. So I could be pulling for Eula, loose my 50/50 to Klee at 70 pulls, and spend another 80 for guaranteed Eula. Debatably better than pulling for Eula, loosing my 50/50 to Diluc at 70, and then getting Eula on 80. It really just depends on what your goals are. This banner is really not attractive to whales since they have most if not all the characters and weapons already, but for f2p or dolphins it’s pretty good when there they don’t have as many limited 5-star characters and weapons.

Alhaitham won't be in a Chronicled Wish Banner for a while because he had only 2 banners so far. Only characters with 3+ banners and without a rerun for...lets say 5 Patches have a chance to be in the Chronicled Wish.

If say Alhaitham appeared on a future Chronicle Wish (would have to be after his 3rd rerun). It would mean he most likely had not appeared in a banner for the last ~5 versions. However it would not impact his chances of appearing after if there is probably reason for him to appear, such as relevancy to an upcoming event. Chronicle wish pool isn't seeming not a random selection or character that need reruns. But all relevant characters of a particular theme who've not reran recently.

I feel like the reason why they didn't mention the duration of the wish is something like intentional ambiguity, basically making it intentionally vague so that they can work their way around maybe testing or seeing what the appropriate amount of time is for this banner. This is a new concept for Genshin so it's uncertain how this would actually work out.

It's a condensed rerun banner for faster rotation. It features limited characters who _cannot_ be put onto the standard for legal purposes. The standard banner has to exist on its own, if nothing else for regular play between limited banners.

I have to ask, how many more standard pulls do we get than event pulls? Most of those pulls are coming from primos so it barely matters which one is used. Also, how you should pull on this banner is exactly how I self-enforced my Kazuha pull. I ensured I had enough to guarantee him at all times, saved throughout 2.x. If he'd shown up on this kind of banner instead of his own, nothing would've changed (other than the character I'd get if I lost the 50/50). Yes, it is objectively worse with the Fate Point system and I think it's dumb that they're using it, but I also don't think it's too big of a deal. The struggle to weigh how to spend your primos, and the urge to spend actual money, were always going to be a consequence of making more characters available at one time as a solution to how long it takes to rerun them. You either wait an eternity which gives people time to save, or you speed it up and now you "don't have enough" currency.

Yep. It's how I felt when I started to play and there were double banners already. I wanted this character, that character and another one. But they all ran at the same time... As f2p I was patient saving and getting them one by one throughout 2 years. My story with Kazuha is similar: I missed him first time losing 50/50 so for next rerun I prepared 160 wishes (and it was smart decision 'cause I got him after losing 50/50 again).

How so? Just save up 180 wishes before wishing on it, instead of spending your primos as soon as you get them. Spending your primos instantly is non-f2p friendly. This offers you better lost 50/50s, which is valuable to f2ps. The only real downside of this banner is the limited 5-star characters on it will be relatively bad. In which case, you can still use it as a budget weapon banner.

I think this banner is designed more for newer players who just don't mind losing 50/50 to another limited 5 star character. However, as a weapon banner, it could be very solid. Personally, if I ever wish on it, it would be for a weapon.

For the people who are malding (me i am malding) as to why we are forced to use intertwined fates/pink balls instead of acquaint fates/blue balls, its because of the limited characters. There is basically a rule that states that all limited characters will never appear on the standard banner aka cannot be obtained using acquaint fates. So even if Hoyo did want to use the blue balls originally, that would go against their rules and diminish the rarity of limited 5*s Tl;dr since limited characters are on the banner, by the rules of the game its a requirement to use pink balls One good thing (to me) is that this is a good alternative to the weapon banner for low spenders. I await the day polar star appears on the chronicle banner when Snezhnaya comes out.

Good video Sevy. You touched on something that I am concerned about. Because many of us don't have a lot of intertwined Fates, because we can only get 5 each month from the shop rese or 4 from the Battle Pass, this means that Hoyo is banking on the players converting their Primogems into Intertwined Fates. In the shop under Purchase With Primogems it has both Aquaint and Intertwined Fates at the price of 160 Primogems for 1. This is how The Chronicled Wish will compete with the limited time banners.

I’ve wanted Diluc since I started playing right at the start of the Inazuma cycle, but I’ve never gotten him. I do have C5 Qiqi though so I’ll be avoiding the Liyue cycle of this banner like the plague. This banner is nice specifically for it’s weapons but as a Diluc wanter I’m also pretty excited. UNFORTUNATELY I’m not going to pull on this banner for him until I know how long it will stick around, because my priority is Arlecchino.

I think this banner can be better than the regular ones but only if you approach it correctly. You need to have at least 150-160 wishes before going on it and be ready and willing to hit pity twice to consider it. Don’t just yolo 50/50. But if you do, you can get what you want and potentially lose the 50/50 to another limited unit in the process instead of a standard one, plus the 4-star pool will be the whole standard pool seemingly so you want get 20 copies of the same character you already had at c6 either

after sitting with this info for a day i’ve come to the conclusion that the chronicle wish isn’t as bad as some people are making it out to be imo i pretty much agree with everything Sevy had to say - yes the fact that your fate point/guarantee won’t carry over whenever the banner refreshes does suck, but at the time of me writing this, we still don’t know how long this banner would last for - for all we know it could run the entire duration of a patch! also i think we need to consider the types of characters hoyo has placed on this banner: Albedo, Eula, Klee… excluding the standard characters these are all characters that have gone *long* periods of time between reruns which means that a good chunk of players who’ve been waiting for them would have lots of primos saved up - possibly enough to hit the worst case scenario of 180 pulls as for the weapons, i think the current selection okay… yes the skyward series isn’t the craziest but it fits the Mondstat theme of the banner and i would hope in future iterations of the banner that the pool of weapons changes to fit the theme of the banner - what would be even cooler is if the devs added past event weapons to the banner like Cinnabar Spindle or Festering Desire but that’s just a crazy wish of mine i don’t realistically expect it to ever happen lol

The one thing that i think would make this so much better is how long between banner rotations, like if it is a month long or has its own lengthy duration like if the banner stays for an entire version its going to be very good, if it is just 2 weeks its going to be trash, i may actually use it to get r5 skyward atlas tbh because the weapoj is underrated but at r5 it can becomes super broken for characters like Heizou. I think until it launches and i can see how long these banners last compared to limited banners i have no real opinion but it could be either very much bait or could be a game changer tbh. Dehya with constellations would be cool for me since i actually utilize her now and people don't really seem to know how to properly utilize her. Thanks for the video.

I would like to bring up the possibility that Venti's absence might not be because he is an Archon, but because of the banner's recency stipulation. As Venti did appear as an Event Wish during 4.1. Note Eula reran during 3.8, so the cut off for what Hoyo considers recent, may be ~5 versions. If that is the reason Venti isn't included.

Only negative for me is the only two I care for that I don’t have are Nilou (my favorite character from Archon quests) and Shenhe which have both only been re-run twice so blah. Maybe there is an exception when they get to their region’s banner but I doubt it. Anyone that keeps up with leaks hear anything on when they will get a rerun?

The fact that pity is 90, that it takes intertwined fates, makes the banner completely underwhelming. On top of the fact that get only 1 Fate point and you lose it on the next banner is SO predatory. This is just making someone's gambling for Gacha 10 times worse. If they made the pity lower by 10, kept the banner for atleast 6 weeks to cycle through multiple 5 stars. That would give so many people the chance to get the characters they want. Take this on top of the fact that seemingly each patch we get less & less primos for F2P (This patch we only get 55 fates) The only thing this new banner hopes to do is drain someone's reserves in the hopes that they'll get the 5 star they want. (But if they don't have enough to guarantee, then they may just be spending another 90 wishes that could've went to a guaranteed limited banner) and that's honestly sad. Genshin has become too ambitious, while not being able to fund enough free rewards to guarantee a 5 star. You could skip 1 patch and have enough for a guaranteed between 1-2 patches, now it's double that, taking 3-4 patches of saving to get a 5 star you want.

Frankly, I find this banner to be a net positive. If you’re in need of a particular 5* weapon that’s featured, this is simply a win as you require less fates overall. As for the characters, that is a win as well. I have read many stories from day one players that are still missing certain characters from the standard banner. The limited characters also being featured means that rerun banners are opened up so that newer characters can rerun more often as well.
