It seems like the new Classic No. 10 performs better in creating chances. Keeping the ball a bit longer with the Classic No. 10 attacking midfielder (AMF), the hole player will immediately make a charge. It might be worth testing out.

Are classic no 10s still the best for possession game because before the change I know there were very good due to their great passing and short distance to receive pass

If they were the best for you before, they probably aren't anymore because their offensive runs are very similar to Hole Players now. You can still use them in possession formations though, they'll just contribute differently. They don't really defend anymore, though.

Probably not that great as you would not use the playstyle on its benefits and those players have low def stats anyways

Hey! That's an interesting idea so I went and tested it. Same formation, AMF again and I used F. Valot (very cheap player you can get that is CN10 and has Track Back so you don't need to waste GP & a skill trainer in case you wanted to try it yourself). The result is pretty lackluster, nothing happened at all, he still showed no interest in winning back the ball. It's like he didn't even have Track Back. I even tried to make him lose the ball himself close to an opposing player so the ball carrier was right next to him but as Mourinho would say: No reaction! But great idea regardless, too bad it didn't work, could have been an great option otherwise. There's still an off-chance that a player with higher defensive stats would react differently, but I doubt it.
