you know we all would love to have symetrical formations, would work on both sides, simple... but it seems they tend lock up before the key pass..for example, wih this 4-2-2-2 formation, one would like to have both flanks roaming but then you would lack a creative to close in for a pass option, also for CFs , if both were goal poachers than who is going to exploit the gap created by the flank cutting in? In other words, in case you want to make this shape a more punishing one, I would avoid using a symetrical style and instead alternate roles, if LMF is creative, have RMF as roaming, and avoid using dual roaming or dual creatives. Or people can keep trying spams and interceptions for footballes goals.... whatever..

Both are fine, you can pick whichever you like😀 I personally currently prefer the 4-3-1-2 diamond one because I think it's easier to defend the center with it, especially after Patch 3.3.0 (last gameplay patch, not the one right now). The formation with the side midfielders has better wing attack though, I always felt that it's bit easier to attack with. In the end, it probably depends on which players you have, what your playstyle is and what's good on the current patch🤞
