Okay I can confirm - I read the Ultimate Universe one year in special after not reading any of the Ultimate lines this year (going to collect it in trades) and it still felt like a coherent story I could follow! I plan to reread it once I'm caught up to see how the reading experience differs but the story is already epic and I loved it
