Would love to see Amtrak in Boise. When we lived and worked in other cities, Amtrak was so much nicer than flying or driving.

Yes we need it especially with all the traffic

If the trains were high speed going 100 or even 200 miles per hour. It would only take probably about a couple hours to travel. Also I live in Utah and would love to visit Idaho one day, I'd definitely use this

I'm in Salt Lake and love this idea. I think they should get Ogden City leaders on board also along with the Utah governor's office.

Love this! Small side note, this sounds like reinstituting conventional rail, High Speed Rail is typically faster than 100 mph so the title isn't accurate. I'm here for both as a Salt Lake resident!

How much is greenhouse gas emissions reduced when taking a train versus driving a car?

If it's fully electric and uses a renewable energy grid, then it produces none. ICE cars already account for 44% of emissions already.

If it happens , the Shoshone Station would be the stop for the Magic Valley Region and open up public transportation options in our area reducing traffic congestion in our area .

please bring passenger rail to Idaho. This is a non partisan issue. We need trains. I am a pro rail conservative. The auto barons are the modern day robber barons. Not everyone likes to fly or ride the bus either. This is one thing I actually agree with Mayor McLean on. Its embarrassing that the Boise depot is used for wedding banquets. Car centricism without other transportation options is tyrannical. Personal auto ownership is not cost effective for most people and is a huge financial burden.

Americas car centric transportation system is a complete disaster. It was a huge mistake on the part of the baby boomers to abandon passenger rail in favor of total car dependency. It has been a disaster to the landscape of cities and a huge financial burden on people, as well as creating a very isolated, selfish and materialistic culture that has zero social skills.
