Thank you very much for this overview of the upcoming updates! I'm excited to try these out for myself in February using my 1 1/2 year old Coros Pace 2. I originally bought the watch for its battery life and affordability but I'm constantly impressed with how generous they are in adding more features even to their older watches.

Or ever. I don't remember the last update for my polar vantage m1. But the main takeaway is all the other companies just bombard you with "data" that many don''t know what to do with. And for the most part we know how we feel and should us that to make our decisions and not rely on a watch telling us.

I cant decide which watch to buy as my first watch to track running (casual runner), Coros pace 3, or Garmin Forerunner 165 (non music) since they are almost exact same price. Amoled is not a big feature for me, I just need a good watch to track my workouts, display basic info etc. OS/enviroment would to be big deciding factor here and Coros seems to be working hard on updating theirs, when Garmin from what I here, likes to gatekeep some features in more expensive models. Any thoughts? Comparison video between those models, or/and systems would be nice :)

Glad they finally added the weather forecast widget, was something I really missed when I switched over from Garmin. It's nice that they're adding general wellness stuff like stress tracking but man that battery hit is just too much so I'll be keeping that off. If I were to choose a non-Garmin watch I think I would very likely be looking for a Coros watch. That said having used the Garmin platform for so many years now one does end up getting so familiar with how it works that changing over to a different platform really needs to be for a very good reason.

Coros is just awesome bringing new features (also to existing devices unlike other brands). And the UI & UX of the App / Website is just beautiful!! What I miss to make the transsition though is the following: Music Streaming Services, NFC Payments, Something like Garmin Body Battery, Weight Measurements & Scales supporting Coros, Calorie Tracker, Equipment Tracker (e.g. Miles for Shoes, bikes) and bring back ANT+ support (I Know it sucks to pay license fees to your competitor but its a good standard). I know this is a lot and most of it is just lifestyle and convenience. However if Coros could add these features in the future nothing will hold me back going for them even if the prices will go up with those features.

For me, as for runner, which using coros 4 years, this feature is senseless, just draining battery. What I've noticed with this update - better showing of current & future lap goals in planned workout. Going to search now how to disable this stress measure feature... But what I can understand - coros trying to get also satisfied users, who actually aren't athletes, and has just normal healthy life, that's I think good direction. Also big positive I see with coros - I'm owning watches since 2020 and I'm still getting updates. That's awesome.

COROS needs these features to stay competitive with a growing market. Just because you don't value them doesn't mean others don't. The good news is that it's FREE and you can disable it if you don't want to use it. Settings > Stress Tracking > Off... Done.

@mfcxmfcx5085 Жыл бұрын
In my opinion, Garmin (Firstbeat) skip the measurement during training and during movement because it can affect the quality of the measurement as well as from the obvious matter we know that during movement or sports the stress will be significantly increased. In addition, so that it is known what body/psychic stress is actual it is worthwhile to let go of such a measurement in motion or during sports. Coros quite similarly models itself on Garmin, so I wonder if the quality may have "borrowed" their algorithms or developed them through reverse engineering. Thanks for the review!

It appears that Garmin, includes activity induced stress in the Body Battery measurement, but doesn't include it in the 'not active' daily stress measurement. I don't have a Coros but I assume they don't store activity induced stress as a separate metric or use some method to avoid double counting activity stress in the daily totals.

I have an Apple Watch 7 that's being warranty replaced without the oxygen sensor (🤬). and am considering the Coros Pace 3 as a possible replacement as an everyday watch. I don’t need most of the Apple smart features and aside from being a daily time piece/general fitness tracker, would use the Coros for cycling and hiking. Your thoughts on this? Thanks and really like your channel!
@ChaseTheSummit11 ай бұрын
The Pace 3 is great! But coming from an Apple Watch it will probably take some time to get used to it. The display is much duller and boring to look at, the interface isn't as snappy, and you can't do any of the obvious smartwatch things with it like play music, take phone calls, download apps, etc... The Pace 3 is a rock solid fitness and activity tracker though and has useful training, navigation, and wellness tools out of the box along with WAY better battery life.
@stepheno342211 ай бұрын
I've never used many of my Apple Watch's smart features, so I don’t think that’ll be a problem. I’m interested in it primarily as a time piece, for cycling, and as a general fitness tracker. Not needed to charge it everyday is a significant plus, too. Thanks a lot for the reply. @@ChaseTheSummit

I go back and forth with how valuable all this extra data is. On my Garmin, it’s nice to validate how I’m feeling when I didn’t get enough sleep, worked out too hard, etc. But at the same time it can be demoralizing when I’m constantly at a training readiness of “1” and the watch is suggesting I “Rest” for 3 days in a row. We have an 18 month old so we don’t get much sleep. Stuff like that draws me back to my Apple Watch which doesn’t seem to judge me nearly as much 🙄
@ChaseTheSummit Жыл бұрын
Haha, that is the struggle. I know the feeling (4 kids here) my body battery rarely gets above 50 even after a good nights sleep. I try not to focus on it too much and really only use it for validation when I *FEEL* run down. Basically, I avoid looking at the metrics unless I feel off... then I look to see what's going on. Ultimately these features are supposed to make us healthier and happier not the other way around.
@JasonRaneses Жыл бұрын
Agree with this. I personally went deep in exploring analytics across Apple, Garmin, and Whoop - you eventually land on listening to your body on most days, as it gets exhausting deferring to a particular platform. The features are no doubt nice to have, but now I optimize for the best activity tracker over everything else. Garmin is my current winner in that regard.
@adr673 Жыл бұрын
Too much for me Dave! Besides I've got an Apex 42mm so the upgrade won't be it. Any way. This features doesn't make me prone to buy a new Coros (I've tested the Coros Pod 2 though, but I rather use Stryd). The only thing that seduce me is battery life, because the Apex has proven to be not so good in the area. May be the Pace 3 would be an option. As an amateur marathoner, there's no need for such features. And optic sensors have never worked for my wrist, that's why I use the Polar Veristy Sense. So, what's the point of these new features since you never get good data from your wrist... I'll pass. Thank you for your great review, I've enjoyed.
