Around 1970, the franchise began using a smoky grey for the pants, royal blue jerseys, and they were still using the standard black cleats of the day. Now, that was a classic uniform, which they dropped around 1974/75.

Supposedly the old blue uniforms were changed because of that version of blue was "jinxed" - the team lost when wearing blue. Although many Cowboys fans believe that - I believe is a myth. Look at big games the Cowboys lost wearing white - Ice Bowl, Super Bowls to Steelers in the 1970s to and some of the other worst losses in Cowboys history was in white uniforms. Wear the blue more often - and at home. If heat is the problem, then wear blue jerseys at home starting at Thanksgiving to the end of the season.

One reason they started wearing white at home was because Texas was so damn hot in Sept.-Oct. But now that they play in an indoor stadium, there's no reason not to wear the blue jerseys. I think they look pretty slick

I've been a Cowboys fan since Super Bowl XII and these are my favorite blues that we've had. The blues that we wore from 1964 to 1980 just weren't a deep enough shade of blue. I've heard that the change was made to match the star which is more of a navy blue. We only wore these for two games in 1981 and then they changed them. I've never heard a reason why.

1. Yes, the previous blue jersey was better. 2. Keep your uniform, especially when it was established as part of a winning tradition. 3. And keep your traditions. It's your history.

One news report said the new blue uniforms were worn for only two games because the numbers were difficult to read at a distance by broadcasters. Some people may believe that is not the reason but that was justification I heard reported.

The change they made after the first two games was they put a dark piping between the silver numbers and the white outline so the numbers would stand out better.

I don't mind the navy, but nothing popped like those royal blue when combined with the pants. Gorgeous combo. I'm surprised they haven't at least made a guest appearance since 1980! If I was owner, they'd go right back to those but I'm short of cash.

I like the modified version of that jersey that has the navy outline in there. I think that version's better than the navy top it used as of the 2022-23 season.

The Dallas logo is perfect. This video shows the issue with their uniforms - one with royal blue, the other with navy blue. Pick one and adjust the uniforms so things make more sense. The classic look can survive, just use navy there if needed.

The font style of the numbers on the new navy blue jerseys was different from font style on their white jerseys, which I thought was odd. They didn't match, which I didn't like. The Royal Blue jerseys were great looking and the color scheme and number font style was exactly the same as the white jerseys. They should have kept those royal blue jerseys.

Terrible change. I HATE the silver pants and navy blue. Its why Royal blue Cowboys jerseys cost more.

We aren't the Giants. Cowboys blue is navy and navy looks way better.

I wish Dallas would just use the helmet colors throughout the uniform. Use Navy, not Royal Blue. The helmet silver and the home and away pants use three different colors, for Heaven's sake! Use the one metallic silver blue in the helmet for one pant used home and away. Those sea foam home pants are awful. Good grief! Navy blue makes the uniforms pop. Lastly, lose the white border on the blue jersey numerals. Makes the numerals look fuzzy from a distance. Keep it simple - and classic. The helmet is perfect and must never change.
