Using the 1/2" long extension incorporated with the case closed is a cool innovation...the handle blinging really caught my eye.

I love Facom tools.. So, obviously I like this set... That's who makes them thats what they are 👍..They're professional tools because Facom (a professional tool manufacturer) makes them That's a great set worth every cent People want to hate on Craftsman but they can't deny the quality

The fit and finish is far better on the V Series than what I've seen of the short lived US manufactured line. I like the case and the use of the extension as a carry handle. Makes for a compact design. The locking extensions are a nice touch. The ratchet reminds me of Mac's Axis line. It seems that Stanley Black and Decker have included their other tool line elements into the V series. My gripes with the V series are non serviceable ratchets, wrench sets that skip sizes, the price point of some of the tools, and the sketchy warranty issues.

My gripes are not too dissimilar. I do like that they are attempting to make a quality V-Series lineup. Maybe with time they can get there.

Nice set, good review but I am done with Craftsman. Maybe 20 years ago I would have bought them but now I go for GearWrench, Icon and Pittsburgh. Although the feature on the locking extensions got me thinking. I still owe 'Made In USA' Craftsman when they were sold at Sears.

Nice Ratchet set, case, and video. I'd bet the "spray paint" inside the socket is probably a zinc coating, or something to that effect, to prevent oxidation. I found a private party sale of a Craftsman ratchet set (220 piece ratchet set with all 3 drive sizes) that has never been used. Going to buy it tonight for $65. I have enough tools, but man I can't pass up a good sized Craftsman ratchet set for that price! The best tool deals are secondhand at yard sales. I'll probably pick this set up in 20 years, god willing, for $20 haha

@@thingsmen Sub'd! I'm not sure of the country origin for the set I'm buying, but, from what I can tell, the ratchet switches are metal. I think its 3-5 years old? Part # (9)36220 I'm not necessarily against Taiwan made Craftsman, as they still have lifetime warranty, but I would prefer USA made.

It's not a zinc coating or spray paint. It is matte chrome not shiny chrome that flakes and ends up changing the socket size... In Europe, this is very common, and it is where manufacturer actually makes most of their tools....

I’m thinking about getting one, been a craftsman lover my entire life but as it’s open design does that mean it’s more prone to moisture damage?

Great question. Depends on how much moisture in your area and if it’s immersed. Otherwise the open ventilation is a nice feature.

I've personally never an issue warranting any Craftsman item with Ace hardware being thr exception. ACE wants your receipt that you purchase from them to get a replacement from their franchise...obviously Craftsman website will replace item. Lowes will honor the Craftsman lifetime warranty but how often have I ever needed replacements on Craftsman hand tools is the real question. I just recently purchased the 3/8 Craftsman V-series rachet set but I just received yesterday, so I haven't opened it yet.

​​​@@markm0000they tried but it didn't sell. Stanley owns them after Sears started moving production overseas and built a huge factory in Texas for them. They closed it a few months ago. Stanley still tries to manufacturer as much as they can in the US. DeWalt is the only USA power tool company right now, also owned by Stanley. The Craftsman toolboxes and most of their accessories are still USA made. They can't keep the standard up at the price point needed with the significantly lessened hand tools sales over the years.
