The way how this truck off roads is surprising, at least to me! The way how the axel tilts in response to overcome the obstacles, and the way how the truck manages to climb rocks is fantastic. I may sound a little bit too surprised, but for a truck mostly built by your hands and detailed is amazing. I have never been too excited to see a RC Truck off road.

When I was making this video I went to a steep bit of mountain track. It is almost too steep to even walk there but somehow in the video the truck makes it look all so easy over the rocks that it is hard to appreciate the conditions. Now I am going to have to find some even more severe conditions because this truck is very capable. The soft tyres grip extremely well and the suspension moves in a very controlled manner to keep the truck stable. I want even greater realism so I've already bought some additional parts and I also have a driver figure that I want to try to fit in the cab.

Thanks for your kind feedback! The AT4V is one of the favourite RC vehicles in my collection. It has some great features and it was very nice to build, especially with all the metal upgrade parts. It is also very rarely seen as it is produced in relatively small numbers which makes it even more interesting, in my opinion. I have recently been adding a few extra customisations to further improve the scale realism and you will be able to see that in an upcoming video. I will also be making some new videos of this truck in action as it is such a nice performer. Best wishes from BlackSeaRC!

Thank you, thank you! Sometimes on trucks like this you can have a lot of functions that don't particularly work well but everything was great once it was set up. The diff-lock control wires were a bit tricky but once done they seem to work well (although I didn't get the truck too wet, dusty or muddy yet so that may change!). I think I will get an additional set of brass counterweights for the rear axle and I already have some other bits and pieces that I'll show you next time. I can't wait to test it some more because in the end it was so capable that the video hardly did it justice.

Hello Mark and thanks for dropping by my channel! You really don't see or hear much about the AT4V but it is a very capable machine. In my latest customisation video I have added a few extra detail touches that you might find interesting. Was the 2 in 1 system quite a tight fit against the steering servo? When I got my AT4V there was very little information known about it so I just used some quite basic electronics as I wasn't really sure what would suit the chassis layout. I'm sure the performance of my truck could be further improved with a better motor, ESC and battery combo. By the way, I also have a PG4A Adventurer kit that I will be building soon. This is a kit from a while back but it looks a real beast!

@@BlackSeaRC I have the VR4C flagship model….my local hobby store was having a huge sale on a lot of their inventory to make room for new stuff. Couldn’t pass it up at $350… The steering servo is mounted to the front axle on my rig so there’s all kinds of room for the HW 2 n 1 set up…I used the 1800 kv option. I totally love this rig (partially because I got such a good deal on it..lol) everything works great and haven’t had to upgrade much of anything to make it perform better other the motor combo!

That was a great deal as the "C" version has all the nice metal parts. It would be interesting to see the VR4C and AT4V side-by-side as there are obviously some differences. I had hoped the AT4V would come with metal wheels but unfortunately they are just plastic. I had to compensate by adding the brass hub weights. By the way, I am trying to fit an interior on mine. Not sure if you saw the latest video I made showing some of my customisations for the AT4V? I started the process of trying to fit an interior but it wasn't entirely successful. If you've got any ideas I'd be grateful!

Hopefully I'll be able to make that happen when I get some funds available.

nice built... the gear mesh is a bit loud on emo at4 too... but was a full capable rc crawler .
@BlackSeaRC3 жыл бұрын
It is a little noisy but not noticeably different from my other RC cars, except for the HG-P417 High Lift clone which is much noisier. I added extra grease to the entire driveline so I think it will get a bit quieter after several more drives. I suppose an upgraded motor and different ESC would reduce noise as well but I've no plans to change them at the moment. The performance has been very impressive so far though and I'll be finding some different types of terrain for further testing in future videos.

This is a really cool truck you built! It must go fast on a smooth surface.
@BlackSeaRC2 жыл бұрын
The great thing about this truck is that it has a 2-speed gearbox. Therefore, as well as being able to crawl in low range it can achieve a reasonable speed in high range. I wouldn't say that it is especially quick even in high range because the motor and gearing are predominantly set up for good torque rather than high speed. However, it could certainly be modified to be much faster if that is what was desired.
@creyetivemedia2 жыл бұрын
@@BlackSeaRC A 2-speed gearbox is a great thing! I see you can have plenty of fun with it where you live. That's so cool that it can be modified to be much faster. This truck look like a must have!
@BlackSeaRC2 жыл бұрын
@@creyetivemedia A 2-speed gearbox is a great advantage because a crawler really needs low gearing when the conditions are severe but then there are often conditions when you can use more speed. These trucks can be fully customised to suit exactly what you want.
@creyetivemedia2 жыл бұрын
@@BlackSeaRC I completely agree that a 2-speed gearbox is a great advantage. It's amazing you built such a model. I don't have the experience to build something like that. It looks very complicated. So it's amazing that you put the whole thing together. P.S. Happy New Year!
@BlackSeaRC2 жыл бұрын
@@creyetivemedia Thanks again and Happy New Year! Building kits is actually a lot of fun. It certainly helps you to understand the model a lot better than if you buy something ready-to-run. This particular kit is quite advanced but if you start with a basic kit (something like a Tamiya buggy) then you will be okay even if you haven't built one before. The instructions are usually very detailed and have great 3D images of each build stage. You will need basic tools though. I suppose the most challenging part for someone who hasn't built one will be painting the body but you can also find kits with pre-painted bodies. Give it a try, it gives you a great sense of achievement to see it transform from a kit of parts into a running vehicle.

Magnifique présentation sinon est ce qu' il y a moyen de mettre le servo sur le pont avant ,afin de supprimer la barre panhard ,
@BlackSeaRC Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comments. The AT4 series uses a front mounted motor that is located above the front axle so there is not space to mount the steering servo on the axle, even if you fabricated your own bracket. The PG4A I have is the opposite and that uses an axle-mounted steering servo in association with 4 links at the front. The motor and gearbox are located further towards the rear.

Can the diffs be setup to been locked all the time and not using the cable system??
@BlackSeaRC Жыл бұрын
Hello Oscar, the diffs are locked by a spring and unlocked by the servo pulling on the cable. Therefore, if the cable is disconnected, the diffs will remain locked all the time. Some people disconnect the cable to the rear diff so it is always locked and then the servo can be used to just lock/unlock the front steering axle as required. I have independent servos for the front and rear axle locking but in reality, I usually run with either both unlocked or both locked. Awesome rig bro! Is it worth to buy this model?
@BlackSeaRC2 жыл бұрын
Thanks my friend! Well, I like it very much and would recommend it but seemingly this model is limited production and not so easy to get hold of. If you can find it in Singapore, this truck is a great alternative to the more common Traxxas and Axial crawlers. Cross-RC has also very recently launched another new model called the EMO XT4 (it was released in China last month so you may have already seen it?). It has a similar chassis but uses straight axles rather than portal axles and also uses a hard body. I am very tempted by this truck as well as I like the fact that it has interior detailing and also engine bay details. There is also a new AT6 truck released this week which has an extended version of the AT4V pick-up body. As for me, I want to get a Gmade GOM buggy next. Hi, may I ask, how is the durability of this rig? Is it on the same level of traxxas trx4 sport?
@BlackSeaRC2 жыл бұрын
Hello there, I don't own a Traxxas TRX-4 Sport truck myself but I can confirm that the EMO AT4 series trucks are considered to be one of the best for durability. The chassis are strong and they can be further improved by adding some of the metal upgrade parts like I have done. The main weaknesses I would say are probably the diff-lock and gear-shift servos. They are an unusual mini size and can be awkward to set-up. I have heard of a few failures of these (mainly due to incorrect set-up I suspect), but Cross-RC introduced a servo protector upgrade that has helped in this respect. The diff-lock cables can also bind sometimes on the protective sheathing but other than that it is a great truck for the price!

Hello Steve! When I bought the AT4V kit last year there were lots of sources for Cross-RC parts and I thought your question would be easy to answer. However, upon searching just now, I couldn't find any of the original sources I remember seeing before. I heard from Cross-RC USA that the AT4V was a limited edition kit so maybe everything has been sold already. Certainly, availability of the kit itself was very limited. There were actually 2 spares items available previously. The AT4V/VR4 clear polycarbonate shell on its own and as a kit of parts. If you have a standard AT4, the AT4V shell on its own will not be much good. You would need the full body kit version that includes the chrome parts (bumpers, front grille, light housings, etc.), body accessories (wipers, mirrors), different body mounts, decals and body masking, side under-protection mod kit, even specific LED lighting parts were included I think. I saw these items mostly on AliExpress (reliable and recommended) and Taobao (this is Chinese language so very hard to use). I see the shell on its own on AliExpress but not the full kit. This is a link to the kit: item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.5-c-s.w4002-16627779951.15.6db03af7RuyJ3v&id=652955263455
