Fun fact, I bought the buk ops in the beginning of November and sent it back. Scope is rated to 450 fps, my bow is shooting 420 fps. The scope itself is just a speed ring scope with a rangefinder. So there is no actual ballistic compensation for shots between yardage lines. That said, the scope with the speed ring maxed out at 450, was still hitting 3 inches high at 40 yards. Sent it back and bought the Zulus and don't regret it. DNT is releasing a new Zulus in 4k that is shaped like a traditional 30mm tube scope, but without the IR module attached for 699.

Rich, I really liked my Hawke xb1 and 30pro speed ring scopes and had good success with them but noticed after a bunch of time on the stand never used most of the reticles and when illuminated were just too bright in low light on their lowest settings. So I did some research and really seemed to gravitate toward a single point “daylight bright” aim point 2nd focal plane LPVO. I hunt hardwoods and out of the last 10 deer I’ve shot not one has been over 25 yds. Comparing all the daylight bright LPVO’s on the market I settled on a Swampfox 1-4 Tomahawk 2 and man it was exactly what the Dr ordered. Liked it so much I bought another and put my Hawkes up for sale.You can adjust magnification without changing aim point, has 12 individual brightness settings with 2 night vision settings that are absolute money in low light! Wanted to keep it super simple…clear glass great eye relief and really couldn’t be happier!

Thanks Rich. Found out a lot about these other “rangefinder” optics. I might consider a Zulus once I can find out more about their new one. True range finding like the Oracle but lighter weight would be nice. But, it’s still gonna be hard to get me away from the Oracle I’ve got a Darton Renegade 370 that’s already way too heavy to put an Oracle on. It will likely stay with a speed ring or possibly a good fixed power just to keep weight down

I think the best feature on these scopes is the Micro SD card slots so I'm guessing you can film through these scopes. Nice review Rich, but I'm just overwhelmed with the technology. And how many more things can I control from my iPhone? I'm doing the GoPro with Quik App, and My Tactacams too! My last ten deer have been taken between 12 and 20 yards, so I'm just going to continue to keep it simple! Thanks for sharing!

Excalibur once again has the best scope for hunting in the tact hunter. 60 yard reticles and not all that hundred yard clutter crap or full of electronics to fail. They finally listened to their base and brought back the tact zone basically!!!

I wonder why it took Excalibur this long to make it, though. I think it was a good idea before the rangefinding Scopes but now with all thede range finding scopes, to me there's no comparison. Once I started using one, just can't go back.

@ that’s great It’s just not for everyone and that’s ok to. That’s why America is great we can all love crossbow hunting but love different ways of doing it. I’m an Excalibur loyalist because I don’t care about speed at all I care about simplicity. I also am a 60 yard max scope as I don’t practice past 40 and out of all the deer I have harvested 2 have been at 30’they rest were 20 and in. Now I have upgraded technology on my EDC firearm to a red dot but for me that makes practical sense. Keep up the videos!

All I want is a crossbow scope is four primary cross hairs with four little subtension lines between each primary cross hair. For instance, my first two cross hairs are coming in at 20 and 34 yards - so the 4 subtension lines would be for 22, 25, 28 and 31 yards. Add the range finder and I'm good to go.

The biggest issue with the burris is "loose screw-itis". My matrix 380 and burris didn't work well together. I had the mounting screws on the scope fixed at burris and put it on my matrix 355. The scope and the 355 got through the whole season flawlessly. I put a garmin on my matrix 380 and the on a micro 380 and had a flawless season. The mounting system on the Garmin is much more robust than the burris. The mount on garmin is integrated into the scope body, it looks and is rock solid. The burris mounting is a tripod system, only one screw in the back. Even when everything is tight on the burris, I can make it move slightly. When you review the instinct scope, please examine the mounting system.

I like the new CERTIS. I have 3 Oracle X scopes, all set at 4X. Don't need any more magnification at 50 yards than that. The CERTIS magnification is fine. A 4X at 50 yards is like 8X at 100 yards. How much magnification do you need for deer?
@Deathbybunjie13 күн бұрын
I think everybody's different, longer range shots, even in the backyard, I do zoom in quite a bit and I also use it to get better looks at things in the woods even if I don't shoot with a zoom at a particular setting. I do find myself at 4x quit a bit also though.

Many hunters would love to have a range finding scope for their crossbows but scopes like the Burris are far too expensive at this time for the average person. The Burris is also enormous and will not be a great fit for many because of its size and weight. Even $600.00 is a lot for the average shooter to spend and in many cases is more than they spent for the bow itself.
@Deathbybunjie13 күн бұрын
I agree, but they'll only get smaller and cheaper over time
@jimowens38113 күн бұрын
I've been looking at the KI scope and while I understand entering the speed, I don't know how it would give you accuracy without also inputting the arrow weight. I do love seeing more offerings in this space though. I'm still loving my Oracle X
@hunterdan200213 күн бұрын
It uses different ballistic coefficients since arrow weight really doesn't affect the rate of drop, since the rate which gravity acts on an object is constant regardless of the weight.
@paulbernitt428012 күн бұрын
I use an illuminated speed ring scope. The simple point and aim/size/weight and accuracy gets the job done consistently at 5-35 yards, which is the shot I take. If the laser range finding instant dot on target could be combined with a speed ring scope weighing in at 1 lb or less at a price point of $299, I would make the purchase. A laser rangefinding dot on target type scope will not improve my outcomes. My current scope gets the job done without spending more on the latest greatest bleeding-edge scope technology. Hunting from a saddle or mobile treestand in hill country, my 10 Point crossbow is heavy enough as it is. I think we will laugh at the size and weight of the current Burris and Certis models 10 years from now....I kinda do now.

Burris has another great thing other scopes won’t have too, or at least yet, you can add different setups to the burris all the others are fixed so if you want change bolts for whatever reason you now have to fiddle and re sight in every time where as the Burris will store that memory. That’s another big thing too, especially if you travel and hunt other places like let’s say africa and they require you to use a heavier bolt well you can store that as setup 2 or whatever and never have to worry again. Unless you get a new or refurbished scope. However o doubt many will use that saving feature but it’s a nice option. This last scope though. The review does seem pretty good.

Dont know what warranty is yet. Negative - No video I would love the video option, but in the end, a no questions asked lifetime warranty that transfers to each user if you sell it is a huge selling point. The remote and having a reticle if the battery dies adds to that.
