I was at the lowest point in my life, beginning to recover from a drug addiction (opiate free since), didn't know anything about myself or how to live, and life was overwhelming and scary. All I knew was I enjoyed playing dark souls on my shitty laptop that I saved up to get back out of the pawn shop. Your streams have been a constant in my life ever since, helping me stay focused while going through some tough times. I'm almost a year removed from my divorce now (which also happened to be a 10 year relationship), coming out of the fog finally, and here we are 10 years later with Dark Souls 2. In all my years of watching Lobos, I think this is the most tense and uneasy I've felt with chat. Just being absolutely rude and feeling superior, and unable to understand him trying to shut it down in his normal, silly and positive way. This is one of the few communities that I usually feel like keep things respectable while still being goofy, but god damn.

I know people rag on DS2, but I really do love what they tried to do with it. I can only imagine what this game could have been if given another year or two to cook and flesh out the ideas they had for it. Always great to see more being done with this tarnished game which I love.

the ds3 "hate" isn't superficial at all. a lot of people find it dull, grey, and boring. the level design is not better than ds1 and the world is not as interesting as ds2. the only thing it improves on is bosses. but for some people, me included, the atmosphere and levels between bosses are much more appealing than boss battles

I think DS3 improves overall on player movement and basic combat feel. Most of the weapons feel good to use with animations and timing that are natural to players. It creates a really mechanically tight game.

It completely makes sense, but it's also just garbage (in terms of story, not visually). The story of DS2 is that there's no rhyme or reason to anything that happens and you're going to die a lot. And that's the only thing the intro really tells you, too. People saying the intro doesn't make sense are actually giving it more credit than what is due. Because the message of the intro video is in fact to be taken literally. So what's happening is people assume there's something deeper going on and it's just botched but that is unfortunately not the case. The DS2 intro is literally the game telling the player to get ready for an absence of coherent narrative.
