I can understand your dislike of soft goods from the black series, a lot of the time they can come out looking frumpy. But since making my own customs I’ve come to really love fabric. A trick I use to give textiles more weight and shape is running them under cold water

Oh! You or one of your artists should sculpt a cloak for Sidious for a resin 3d print! Kinda like the jedi robes you did. Maybe one static and one action pose? The sleeves might be tricky, but I'm sure whatever design you came up with would be amazing! Great review as always!

Great video! Still waiting to get the Battle Droid, but Darth Sidious is currently my favorite Black Series of the year. I've been wanting Hasbro to make him for a while now and he doesn't disappoint for me.

I knew I liked Luke for a reason and it’s because he too despises soft goods. I think it’s necessary for certain figures like give Mando soft good so his Jetpack can fit on his back but otherwise soft plastic cape. One of my personal biggest grapes with soft goods is Asajj Ventress that dress is tacky looking and it’s not like they didn’t have a soft plastic covering from the original figure that the lower half is mostly reuse of dark Rey.

I want good posability out of my action figures, so him having soft goods robes is great. Black Series have been improving with soft goods lately. I hate when figures are just traffic coned by inflexible plastic robes. I would've prefered a soft goods hood too, but this looks decent enough, though it seems to sit a little high. The Super Battle Droid looks like a beast. Good that they gave us a laser blast effect. Everyone with a blaster should have one.

You should get some black bobby pins. They work great on gathering capes etc and you can hide them easily.

That Plastic hood is gonna severely limit the head movement and wouldn't let us see all the sculpted details of the head.

I know that Disney is forcing them to make newer stuff from their shows but both Disney and Black Series know that these 2 figures would sell magnitudes better than anyone from the Ahsoka show.

1:38 Isn't this an incorrect hilt colorway for this version of Sidious? This was his hilt in the Palpatine vs. Windu fight. During his duel with Yoda, the hilt was the same design but with a dark bronze color. This can be seen in a close-up shot of Sidious swinging the saber, promotional images when he's wearing this outfit, and a Star Wars Episode III Lightsaber Props video.

Personally I prefer the cloth hoods. I think they had the right idea with the Kylo ren reissue, the one with the 2 stitches in the hood to make it sit right. They perfected it with malgus though by gluing it down, and I wish they did it here too. Having the entire figure cloth and then a plastic hood just looks weird to me If done right like malgus’ is, then figures like sidious and Revan would look infinitely better

No, plastic hoods always look better than any soft goods one in this scale. Malgus has a good one, but he would still look much better with a good plastic hood, although in case of Malgus I think what they did is the best option considering poseability. But for Palpatine, Revan or Nihilus? No, they have large hoods with a certain shape, so plastic hoods are the only option. Out of all Revan's custom hoods I've seen only one wasn't bad.

@@magicmirror8627 I disagree, if the corners of the hood are glued down it can look great. I glued my Kylo ren hood down on his shoulders and it looks fantastic. I didn’t even have to glue it to his head, just the corners of the hood. Kylo has a really similar hood shape to palpatine too. If Hasbro does the same for their figures then I think that’s the best move

The Luke body has great articulation and you’ll never see it anyway. Also, the lightning hands are newly sculpted since the peg holes for the hands on the old emperor are not the same as this luke
