Our politicians are totally ignoring this problem. We're losing our next generation as they move to other states. Our states budgets are going to be in shambles if our most productive citizens keep moving out. Meanwhile somehow housing just gets more and more expensive even with so many people moving. It's crazy!

If the tax revenue is decreasing due to people leaving maybe it's time to downsize the gov't. How come that's never discussed? Raising taxes is just going to make more people and businesses leave making your problem worse.

My father said two things about running a business. Never in a cold climate like the northeast, it affects foot traffic and never in a blue state like Massachusetts. They will tax you to death.
@John-iq7ry17 күн бұрын
I'm not necessarily saying he's wrong. But FWIW, I noticed the turnover on businesses was high as hell in Florida. You'd see a business come in, go out of business within months, then another business would come in and the cycle would repeat. I know some people who prefer living in MA over FL even though the taxes are higher, because jobs have higher salaries and more benefits.
@bendrixbailey14306 ай бұрын
As a productive entrepreneur who has started 3 companies in MA and employed hundreds, I’m finding the regulatory environment burdensome. The reason its so expensive to build in MA has little to do with material inflation, and much to do with masses of regulation that increase the cost of construction. Special interest groups lobby the legislature to pass regulations requiring expensive additions to buildings, supplied by the lobbying groups. Now MA is pushing up income taxes under the very foolish lie that the productive earners don’t pay their share.
@thinkingitthrough83686 ай бұрын
Owning a company in MA for nearly a decade, I came away with two things. 1. The government workers who can't count seem to flock to the DOR. The ones that can count I suspect they put at the lottery. 2. The unemployment laws are so lax that I used to joke with the wife that if one of the employees killed me, the employee who did the deed would go to Unemployment and tell them the company closed because the owner died, get unemployment, and they would find nothing wrong with sending the checks to the prison. It's that absurd.

MA born and raised. Lived for 10+ years off and on in other states. Been back in MA for about 5 years now. Honestly looking forward to living in another state/country with warmer weather, more affordable, friendlier people, etc. Living in another state, I was able to afford to buy a home in a nice neighborhood, extensively remodel it, and when I sold it, I got a great ROI. I know I could never do that here. Everything is so expensive, especially housing. I could probably rent a mansion in certain other states for the price that I pay for a 1 bedroom here.

I have very high conferdence in High education system and strong Hi tech defense job related skills jobs that MA can offer . I paid taxes and sacrifice but I was the 1st group to be selected for laid off and blacklisted for employment. I left the state after being left behind with high debt with no income and no opportunity for two years. I paid $500.00 state taxes on my last saving while I was on the street way back in 1995 and forced to give up my property to the criminal that keep attacking me until I left.
