Great suggestion! In the meantime check out this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5mpf6qglrdkZqM I think it should give you most of the mechanics you need. You could skip the step where I upload from Power Apps and then where i update SharePoint, you would update Dataverse.

@shane, Did you determine what was breaking the virtual table @ the 15 minute mark "Something..." [purple plug]. I am having the same problem with any SQL virtual table I add to dataverse. SQL and Canvas work just fine. However, virtual table in dataverse is a no go regardless of int, GUID or text primary keys.

Hi Shane. Thanks as always 💥💥. Great Vid. A suggestion for a new video ... We have blocked Co-pilot due to Microsoft "cannot accurately tell us what is processed outside of the UK". This is OK for your Chewy data, but for sensitive company data this is a problem. Are you able to to a video on the "Security" side of Co-pilot? Where is the "intelligence" actually doing the processing? Cheers 🍻🍻

I did not. I don't think I have any "real" apps using Virtual Tables, so I never had to worry about it. I kind of rememeber someone else leaving a comment about the issue but not sure. Might be worth rolling through them and see if anything helps. Sorry I don't have more.

I ran into this same issue :( I was able to successfully create a virtual table from one SharePoint list and then I received this way-too-generic "something went wrong" error when creating a virtual table from another SharePoint list in the same site, both to the same environment. And the List that's giving me an error is much simpler than the list that worked.... Did you ever solve this?

Love your channel! New at PowerApps but familiar with SQL. I just learned that you can create a formula column in Dataverse, and would like to create a ranking column but can't find the equivalent of SQL's row_number() and rank() functions. Do you have a video on this? Is it even doable in any way at the Dataverse table level rather than at the PoweApp level? Cheers

@@ShanesCows no worries, I figured it out! You can edit the virtual data source config in the solution in the classic view. It allows you to change the server and database connection. I broke out my tables into a separate solution so I didn't overwrite it every time I did a new solution push. hopefully MS will update this experience in the future to support ALM with the new virtual tables experience because this wasn't very straight forward/easy.

Yes, everywhere you use the table, like in a Canvas app, it doesn't know any different that it isn't a normal DV table. :)
