We would skate HB high and Edison High School. Ed would show up and skaters would just watch in awe at the master and his impossibles. He was like Elvis of the skate world.

As someone educating myself on skate history, it blows my mind what had been done so early on in the street. They fuckin killed those curbs. Lot of ledge and rail stuff I didn’t realize had happened either. This is so inspiring.

Me too. I had Justin Girard board. And loved this. I goggled Justin Girard just recently to see where he is now and can't find any info. If You know respond. The Adventures of Justin Girard was the board and I m fairly sure I had New Deal tee shirt that would have been too. Big for my father and he was stacked.

Me too, but for the worst. Met my 1st wife and started to quit. Me and my twin used to skate and we're pretty good. Skated a few times with Montesi at Astro skate park. I started a new job 3 months ago and there's a skater there my age that's trying to get me out for some fun on a board. I skated for a year in 08. Still could Ollie well and kick flips. But damn I pulled my back out and was outta work for a week 😂

Best title ever. Remember watching this when it came out, so sick. Skating evolved so quick back then and weird to watch trendy tricks come and go. 52 , still rollin' for over 40 years. Just need a couple ankles, knees and a left hip 😵

With the H Street videos first, followed by World Industries and this video, the big 3 (Powell, Vision, Santa Cruz) were outclassed regarding street skateboarding innovations, their big stars were focused on Vert and with this street trend they absolutely killed them at the time. Ed Templeton is my favourite skateboarder from all time and in the year this video was done he already had won a big contest at the time in street at Munster (Germany) a big competition at the time outside the USA. All in all for younger skateboarders if you're watching this video now pay attention because this is a historic moment in skateboard, it was cool to follow H Street, World Industries or New Deal in this era, while if you still were associated with Santa Cruz, Vision or Powell it was like if you were a "boring" type of skateboarder, and vert wasn't cool anymore, a lot of vert guys from that era had to adapt to street skateboard in the following years or they risked going bankrupt, just watch what happened to Hosoi and Gator (that one with tragic consequences). Best era in the history of skateboard in my opinion, glad that I watched it.

I started skating in 1986 and I remeber this period very well. H street were Indeed the dogs bollocks. Matt Hensley genius and I'm scottish so I remeber the launch of deathbox here. Was a big deal first UK skate company on the ball finally. Must also mention the soundtracks on this era of vids so so many great bands. Odd numbers dinosaur jr and so many more. Happy memories and at 48 I still skate on when I can. Skateboard is not for Xmas a skateboard is for life 🛹

@@Tokeokarma123 It was a much more fun era on street skateboard particularly. When I made this comment it wasn't the typical nostalgic thing like "in the past skateboard was much better". But between 1990 and 1994 it wasn't only the thing changing from vert is dead and street is cool, it was how the entire Industry changed with a lot of new brands coming in, the dynamics of streetwear, music, etc. Reason why I say I was glad to watch that era, of course one can say by 1998 everything was becoming already as commercial and sanitized as on the Powell, Vision, Santa Cruz era, but that always happens in any sport, music or movie industry. It was good while it lasted, and obviously with this I am not saying there wasn't mindblowing evolutions in street or vert skateboarding after that, of course there's always space for new things, but the beginning of the 90's transition was something new and creative.

Lots of great talent on the New Deal team. What ever happened to Ed Templeton? He was one of the top street skaters in CASL and NSA contests during the late 1980's through the early 1990's. I competed with Joe Ryckebosch and his cousin Jeff in CASL and NSA freestyle/flatland contests during the late 1980's through the early 1990s; we all did pretty well in those contests, trading top placing positions every other contest or so. I also wonder what Neal Hendrix has been up to all these years, if he's still around? Hardly hear of any of these guys anymore.

Anyone know the name of the 5 song ep by Lifeline? They had a few songs from it during this video.....during John Montesi's part for example. Had his slick bottom deck and Danny Sargent's as well. Skating was kind of in a lull and I had to buy boards from a rollerblade store at the time. New Deal and H Street were my favs in the early 90's.......then came Plan B!!!
