@Raymoclaus Veiler certainly cares where the effect resolves. Veiler only negates effects that activate (and hence resolve) on the field. It just doesn't require the monster to stay on the field, as Skill Drain does.

with how broken the meta is a lot of Ra's actual effects wouldn't be that bad, just add in that it gains the attack of all monsters that were tributed to summon it, if it's summoned from the graveyard it can attack all monsters your opponent controls once each; and then your opponent directly, if they have no monsters left, once per turn you can tribute all other monsters you control to have Ra gain their combined attack, and during the end phase this card is sent to the graveyard

Ra's effect is that nothing can be activated spells traps or monster effects, on the turn he was summoned; which it was. He used its effect and you effectveilored which is an illegal move.

Look on the yugioh wikia under the original Obelisk' anime effect. "Card effects only affect this card until the End Phase." It's also mentioned by Seto Kaiba somewhere in the Battle City arc (Joey vs Marik I believe) that cards only affect the egyptian gods until the end phase.

Ra can still be targeted and puts your life points in a very vulnerable position, that's why I prefer Obelisk. Sac Hardened Armed Dragon + 2 others for Obelisk and you pretty much win the game. If you sac Hardened for a level 7 or higher, the monster you sac'd it for can't be destroyed by ANY card effects. So Obelisk's effect makes him unable to be targeted and Hardened's effect makes him indestructible by card effects.

Great duel, AzenEyes. I always wanted to try the Ghostricks out, but I'm not sure where to start. -On a side note- You know when you really think about it. Why is it that Obelisk is the only Egyptian God card that kept it's "can't be targetted by card effects" effect, when all three cards had that same eff when they were really popular. I don't hate Obelisk, but he's the only one of the 3 that acually feels like an Egyptian God card.

I know it is kind of odd, but I am referring to the precise text on the card, it dosen't say ANY it says "so you will be left with 100". That sentence confuse me a bit, I would like to try to summon Ra on YGO PRO so I can be sure. The second eff makes sense because you have option to activate the first one, if you didn't activate the first one you can use the second eff as many times as you want. You can special summon Ra in defense mode then destroy any number of monsters (in any side)

Don't forget to put in morphing jar #2 and the nobleman of crossout. You could convert the deck into a mill deck pretty easy too with that Ghostrick Panic.

I agree, I mean the only thing I'm salty is how Ra doesn't get the attack of the tributed monsters (that would make the card A LOT more playable) and also that the paying life till you have 100 is a mandatory effect (should be optional)...

Ryko, Dracossack, Big Eye, Grapha, Constellar M7(Hieratics,) Snowman Eater, Atlanteans Heavy Infantry, Tsukiyomi, Blaster Dragon Ruler, JD, DAD, etc Dark Hole, Spellbook of Fate, Chalice, Book of Moon, etc, etc, etc Compulsory Evac, Mirror Force, D Prison, Fienish Chain, Breakthrough Skill, Skill Drain, etc, etc Most Decks have easy outs when the shouldn't. King Tiger Wanghu + Burden of the mighty didn't always work. I could see it working on Spell/Trapless decks that rely on LV 4's though.

acid golem on that first part of the duel would have been a smarter move, dragon ruler decks usually dont have anything that can overpower it, plus his hand trap would stop anything that could pose a threat to golem

Edgar is right. Ra's effect reads "When this card is Normal Summoned: You can pay Life Points so that you only have 100 left; this card gains ATK and DEF equal to the amount of Life Points paid."

Ghostricks are good against decks that can't pace themselves like drag and if you can possibly spell books. But I saw how my friend plays them and I'm simply not scared with the decks I run. I run 4 decks harpies, constellars, macro, and malefic virus drain. Harpies have their own field spell that acts like MST when harpie ladies are summoned. Constellars have diverse enough tactics that can work against ghostricks, my macro can do somethings against these cards.

Slifer's attack is dependent on your hand, which means you need to keep cards off the field to keep it strong and it doesn't protect itself at all. Breakthrough Skill makes Slifer a 0/0, so they can just activate it upon attack declaration and you just lost Slifer. Obelisk can't be targeted, so it's already more challenging to get rid of and I don't need 4 cards in hand to keep its attack at 4000. You will almost never have Slifer with more than 4000 attack.

You need to throw in some of the Ghostrick Pumpkin guy, great for protecting your own stuff and works well with Ghostrick Panic and the possible Caius tech. also, Swords of Concealing Light works pretty ok with Alucard.

This is what I think they should of made Ra's effect do add up all the attack of the 3 monsters used for tribute and he gains that many attack points then you can pay till you have 100 life points left to destroy all FACE UP monsters on opponents side of field.

You can use effect veiler on any of the gods except I think obelisk ( since he can't be targeted ) god cards don't negate anything their summoning just cant be chained so stuff like trap hole, judgment or warning wouldn't work but stuff like mirror force would.

The E-Drag player could have done this. Activate Dracossack and tribute a token to get rid of a Zenmaines attachment. Activate Dracossack again to get 2 more tokens, Tribute the Tokens and Dracossack for Ra. Activate Ra and pay 7900. Attack Zenmaines for 6400. Attack with Tempest. Then attack with Blaster for game. That's what he could of done if Azneyes didnt have veiler. Oh wait I forgot that he has Specter in hand. Never mind,.....

It's only WHEN he is tribute summoned that you cant activate effects. He's a guaranteed summon, but otherwise, veiler still works afterward.

You could of went for temtempo and detached a material from draccosack. That way he wouldnt be able to detach for more tokens. And since you had two veilers in hand, whenever he would of went for big eye, you could veiler it as well.

Just a thought: wouldn't it be better to veiler Dracosack before he detaches? Normally letting them detach to waste their materials would be a good thing, but this is dragon rulers, and having those dragons in the grave just gives them more advantage. What do you think?

I use gogogo deck... Basically when u summon gogogo giant, u can s.s. gogogo ghost... Then u can s.s. gogogo golem; that's 3 cards ( 2000atk, 1900atk, and 1800atk) ALL ON THE SAME TURN! a game changer If you're losing...

it can be destroyed by card effects while zenmaines cant. lets say that he destroy his dracosack with acid golem, edrags dont have big problem to just get another dracosack and use its effect to destroy acid golem, while doing that to zenmaines will get it destroyed, acid golem was a very risky pick considering the situation

It is optional. If you want it to survive a battle, though, that's another story entirely.

If you're setting backrow to protect Slifer, then you're reducing its attack. Slifer falls to Ryko and Snowman Eater. Obelisk does not. Slifer can get Breakthrough Skilled and Fiendish Chained, Obelisk can't. When commonly ran cards defeat a card you took a -3 to summon, it's not worth using.

Synchos are still Good and played; they just banned / (limited)cards like these: Trishula, Dark Strike Fighter, Goyo Guardian, Brionac, Glow-Up Bulb Limited to 1 are Formula Synchron, Hyper Librarian, Spore, Plaguespreader, Dandylion, Lonefire Blossom, Mezuki, while Debris Dragon is at 2, and Black Rose Dragon, Emergency Teleport, Effect Veiler, and Lumina are at 3, so WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??

this game reminds me of a game where my oponent made Ra used it's effect, then attacked into my face down Marshmallon, literally commiting suicide from full life points to -900 in 1 single turn

Ghostricks should always run 3 Swords of Concealing Light and maybe a Needle Ceiling or two. The deck should also focus on keeping the opponent's cards face-down and not making XYZ plays. That way, it shouldn't really matter what deck the opponent is playing, as long as you keep their monsters face-down and grind away at their LP. I think that's the best way to play Ghostricks, but that's just my opinion.

But the thing was is that Ra's effect only applies during the chain he is summoned. You can see priority was passed end of main phase so it was a legal move, and honestly sucks for the RA player that azneyes had double veiler, since that was the only way for him to lose. that situation pretty much.

You can pay LP but only so you will be left with 100... Of you can choose not to do so, which will means Ra will have 0 ATK, he didn't pat "too many LP" he just activated Ra's eff

When it comes to dealing with the XYZs Elemental Dragons produce, you're better off Veilering the monster BEFORE the detachment. Letting them detach gives them another Level 7 in the grave for more SS. Yes after you kill or get rid of those XYZs they'll be in the grave, but at the same time it can set them back a turn...giving you more chances to win/establish a better defense/offense.

Winged Dragon of Ra is actually the best. He won me many duels before with my frog engine. Just use March of the Monarchs with Royal decree. Your opponent can't do shit and you win. People say Obelisk is best because he can be SS and he can't be targeted by spell,traps, and monster effects. But Ra is very good even though they nerfed him hard.

Skill Drain: Slifer has 0 Atk; Obelisk still has 4k Fiendish chain/Veiler/breakthrough skill; Slifer has 0 Atk, Obelisk can't be targeted Slifer can be targeted Slifer's attack is subjective; Obelisk's isn't Your opp will just set to get over Slifer's effect. Or SS in def Obelisk can nuke your opps monsters Obelisk just looks badass (First print. Veiler will always negate Dracossack, even if it tributes itself. The effect still activated on the field. Veiler is not Skill Drain.

just want to say in my opinion the person who used the winged dragon of ra should of wait before even summoning it the card suppose to gain the attack of all the monsters that was during the tribute even so he should of used the other effect to destory 1 card instead like the monster they set down on the field. thats just my opinion because i think reborning Ra is way better then normal summoning him because if you reborn him when your opponent doesnt have any monsters.

I personally prefer The Wicked Gods to the Egyptian Gods, Avatar especially, have Hardened Armed Dragon as one of its three tributes and a couple of Forbidden Lances just in case and it really can't be touched.

Were it me I'd still have left as soon as I saw the dragons. While it's nice to see a different strategy it's still using those crimes against fair play to get to it. Other note, I really wish Konami hadn't nerfed Ra so much. In the very least he should have kept the "ATK equals combined tributes ATK" thing.

No. All 3 gods had "illegal" versions - the ones where their colours were Red, Blue and Yellow - and their effects were designated by the players, so as a general rule they were slightly toned-down anime effects. The new versions are the legal versions with more balanced effects. On the whole, Obelisk came out best with the most immunity and power. Slifer has potential but can be destroyed easily and Ra is a complete joke unless you've wiped out your opponent's field first

Evilswarm Ophion needs protection but people still rage over him... Ra's second effect is stupid but the Life point effect is good. I made a Winged Dragon of Ra deck that let's me use Ra's effect and gives me massive life points after I use Ra's effect. The latest I ever brought out Ra was n my 4th turn. To be honest, it depends how well you go with certain cards.
