Why is he saying if you make less than $70,000 that dental is free? The CDCP is paying out lower than every single province's fee guides. They still have to pay the difference.

If we have Pension BC's Dental Plan, but canceled it this year, could we apply CDCP within the same year? Will we still be eligible? Cause on the government website, it says: You may be eligible for the CDCP if you’re retired and: -you opted out of pension benefits before December 11, 2023, and -you can’t opt back in under the pension rules But what if you opt out in 2024? Do you have to wait till next year?

If you opted out in 2024 then you will have to wait until next year because eligibility is based on the your situation in the previous year

I wouldn’t recommend to cancel too quickly, you need to see what your pension plan covers. CDCP only covers a small amount of treatment where some private insurance covers a lot more.

This is not free - even those with no co-pay will be balance billed up to the fee the dentist usually charges as the CDCP fees schedule has no relationship at all to the provincial fee guides for dental services

You're right, thanks for pointing this out! There are discrepancies between the established CPDP fees and the provincial dental fee guides. Please don’t say it’s free, it’s not free. Patient still needs to pay. They don’t pay into the plan because it’s based on their income but patients are still on the hook for partial treatment cost as the CDCP only helps to supplement the costs. Also sun life right now can unilaterally change the terms and conditions meaning you might think you are covered but when it comes to actual time you do the treatment it’s not covered. You will be responsible for the cost. Also if you have private insurance, try to keep it, it will cover a lot more than what CDCP can cover.

About a month ago, I got TWO identical letters congratulating me on qualifying for the Canadian Dental plan. My card would be in my welcome package. I've yet to see it. Now, I'm beginning to wonder if it's going to cover even a fraction of the work that needs to be done. I retired 5 years ago and lost my dental coverage. As the Trudeau government decided to save dental coverage to bolster their popularity nearing their second term, I have a lot of work to be done. WHERE IS MY COVERAGE? Or is it another one of those "Trudeau-ian empty promises?
