Episode 17. Productive Sunday Pottering - Painting an Antique Rocking Chair, Organising, & Kitchen Progress
In this week’s episode, we’re enjoying a productive Sunday pottering at home, ticking off a few smaller (but important!) tasks from the list as we keep making progress on our 1940s Cannes apartment. Although we’re not renovating at full speed, these little updates are bringing us closer to creating our ideal family home.
Ryan spends the day organising our downstairs storage space and clearing out his toolboxes, while I get inspired to upcycle an old, charming rocking chair! I take you along as I pick out the perfect shade of green and transform this piece into something beautiful. We also tackle a mouldy palm tree outside, giving it a fresh start in the hopes it’ll thrive.
One exciting update: we’ve finally found the ideal gold handles for our kitchen drawers! I share the latest kitchen progress with you and chat about our vision for the main living space in our French home.

As an ex-opera singer I can say that Nancy has an amazing singing voice! I don't know if you have a voice coach for her but it would be great if you did. Thank you for the lovely tour! I love what you've done so far. I would suggest hanging a very tall mirror above your beautiful chest of drawers between the glass doors. It will reflect light around the room almost like a third window. I have done this in my house and I must say the effect is incredible ✨

Love a slow pottering Sunday 😊..Gorgeous shade of green on the chair….progress is coming along nicely…taking the time gives you an opportunity to live in the space and for you to discover what you really like and really need ….your kitchen looks lovely already 😊re your gold kitchen handles…love the long bar handles and just seamlessly match and fit in perfectly. A little tip….You could try searching for gold leaf cream polish or paste…I have used this on my antique metal lamps to brighten the yellow tone gold.I used a brand called Liberon gilt cream…perfect to ramp up the intensity…I’ve used also on my Louis chairs and antique mirrors…Pop it on ..leave for a bit and buff. Available in various shades I believe . It doesn’t matter how long it takes Fern…it’s your home and you don’t want to rush to finish …..happy Sunday guys 😊

We love a good Sunday potter too. Walk the dog along the beach to pick up the Sunday paper. Back home for a coffee and a read and then out into the garden or to the Garden Centre then maybe a nice lunch out somewhere and then back home..... Sheer bliss!

I have a few minutes so I'm going to try again The kitchen Handles are even better than you thought because they match the long handles on your stove. What a perfectly beautiful stove. I can hardly wait to see all the plans come into shape - it will be amazingly beautiful. Italian Stone no less! I knew a lady who had incontinent dogs when she came for a visit there were four of them .She would put them in diapers. I've never seen that before it rather surprised me. I don't think Sylvia would like it. The ramp explains it. It was in my original post that didn't edit. Nancy's voice is beautiful. Pretty neat song. 👏 Encore encore I think the rocker is definitely male, Rye. Great paint job. Terrific pruning of the palm tree 🌴. They do look so grubby if they're not trimmed. I hope Google girl got it all right because I'm not correcting it, if it is not. Personally, had a fridge crisis. That takes time. & is totally boring. Thank you Fern. It is all coming together. Counters surfaces from Italy will be awesome! I think tile back splashes are less modern looking. A full piece of whatever material you get for the counters woukd look nice and clean especially a light colour veiny marble.

Love the handles, they go with the antique look. I would go with a granite without a ton of movement but some beige, ochre and white. Keep it simple with the same granite on wall. Gonna be stunning!

Hi Fern. I was going crazy looking for kitchen handles and knobs also until I found a brand called Edgar Berebi. They are pricey but beautiful and the only condition my husband would buy them was when we move they would come with us. Lol
