New Detroit Riverwalk stretch opens soon at Uniroyal site, decades in the making

Saturday morning, the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy will be celebrating the completion of the 3.5-mile stretch of the East Riverfront. A grand opening is scheduled for 10 a.m. Overall, the conservancy said $300 million has been invested into the East Riverfront.

The river walk is nice and all, but honestly I would rather explore the abandoned buildings.

"New Detroit Riverwalk". More accurately known as "New Thug Hunting Grounds". With convenient fencing so the victims can't easily run away. Like the fencing used to funnel cattle to the slaughterhouse.

There's callboxes marked by a blue light where you can summon help. Also this new piece connects connects two parts which previously had dead ends. So were you even familiar with this project or the overall riverwalk?

@@Knightmessenger Callboxes ? And how are those better than a cellphone ? You can pull out your cellphone and dial 911 much faster than you can find a callbox. But _neither_ is going to do any good when you're being robbed and beaten. Unless you think Detroit gangstas gonna politely wait until you complete your call, or find a callbox.

@traviscornell3549 as far as I know the existing riverwalk is very safe. Now I can't for certain say no crime will ever happen but you seem to think it will be less safe with this segment complete. And that's just dumb because if you were familiar with a map, you would know this new piece removes dead ends and connects two prior parts together.
