Hi Cecilia! I agree. This video was filmed 2 years ago, and since the pandemic I have started making more homemade, healthy snacks. We still have some store-bought though. I grew up with parents who didn't cook, so I'm still learning.
@stickerbosscreations53062 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. I have a kid with ADHD and limiting sugar was a huge help with behaviors and habits. It is difficult to learn good eating habits when you didn't have parents that cooked. I was thinking that it was a lot of canned goods and sugary treats that you were calling breakfast items, but it is evidence of you not learning better eating habits as a child. Learning to be a mom is an ever evolving process and as long as you are open to learning from others, you will be able to make the best choices that you can for your family. I think that the previous person that gave you so much criticism for this, was being pretty rude. She had to turn you off because of it? Lol let her! I'm sorry that she said that to you. I think that the transformation was so satisfying! I am now subscribed.😊

@@stickerbosscreations5306 Thank you for understanding and subbing! That's amazing! I will have to make a separate video talking a little more about my background, because there are many people who are making assumptions based off of this one video from 2 years ago. While we do still have "junk food" snacks, I have started making lots of them -- never realizing how easy it could be or how much money it would save. I'm an entry-level mom learning as I go. 😄

@@ceciliafuentes3299 I'm not offended at all. Funny you should mention it. My husband is an OLYMPIC-LEVEL snacker. I wish you the best sweetie with your pantry & refrigerator with so many goodies as your child with Autism gets older. My son started going through our food & eating everything while we slept or throwing it all away at a certain age. We put a monitor at the stairs that would go off, if anyone tried to go downstairs at night. We had an alert monitor in our room. Praise God, that worked. We found a little refrigerator that we can lock & we keep all our yogurts, juice & fruit in it, now that he is an adult. We had a locked door pantry, but he kept seeing where we hid our keys or searching for it😃🥰. Around 2 years ago, we cleverly put a keypad on our pantry door. If he happens to figure the code out, we can recode it🥰. I’m giving you all this information, bc we didn’t have anyone to help us when we were struggling with our child (with Autism),destroying/constantly going in our food. He is now 32 & I just wanted to be of help to the younger generation.

I use the plant trolley trick as well. If it's a solid bottom, use the tiny command Hooks. It's doesn't have to be a solid tight fit, just enough to keep it in place. I'm a big fan of decanting or marrying up bags simply because the boxes and bags contain so much empty space. Mac n cheese and hamburger helper fit in a sandwich ziplock bag. I'm able to put 10 in a dollar tree round 4qt cannister.

Wow the difference between the before and after is insane! And the before was already pretty okay by my standards hahaha This gives me hope though. I'm currently living with my parents (divorced) while I'm attending uni and my dad's house is just one giant mess. He's the ''I'm done with this, so I'll just toss it out of reach and have it sit there for a week'' kind of person. He prefers piling trash on top of the trashcan because opening the lid is ''too much effort''. I used to be that way too (wonder who I learned that behavior from....) but in recent years I've become a bit more like my mom, who is a very tidy person. Plus due to the nature of my studies, I'm seeing health hazards EVERYWHERE now lol. Our pantry is small and deep, but filled to the brim with.. stuff. I have no idea what's even in the back of the pantry at this point, since the floor hasn't been seen in over a decade. Now that Summer is approaching and I'll be at home during the holiday, I'm planning on cleaning and tidying our entire kitchen and bathroom (which honestly hasn't happened since my parents got divorced 11 years ago). It seems like a bit of an impossible task, but I'm hoping that videos like this can motivate me to get stuff done :D
@thenovicemom10932 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a massive undertaking, friend. I am rooting for you, and know you will get it done. Just take baby steps if necessary. When I met my husband, his apartment was full of TRASH. Empty fast food bags and cups everywhere. Pizza boxes were stacked from the kitchen countertop to the ceiling. Cigarette ash, funk, dust and hair on everything. Funny thing is -- there's no shame to his game. I was mortified and disgusted. He invited me to travel with him to Louisiana over the Thanksgiving holiday to meet his parents, but I had only known him for 3 months so I declined. He let me stay at his place while he was gone, and I cleaned every nook and cranny of that place. It was so spotless when he got home, that he took one step inside and abruptly backed out thinking he entered the wrong apartment. I had to chase him down the breezeway. When I visited his mother's home a year later, I realized she's a slob -- and all the dots connected. HAHA!!! I pray you're doing well in school and life in general, my dear. Stay in touch!

Just a thought after seeing the actually items in your pantry: if you couldn’t go to the grocery store, how many days, weeks or months could you feed your family?

Hi Linda, this was filmed 2 years ago. My pantry is still setup the same, but with many healthier options. To answer your question, we have always had a fridge and freezer full of meats, fruits and vegetables and a storage unit full of survival meals, barrels of water, purifying tablets and equipment. I tried out ziplock boxes and disposable paper products in those baskets. The paper plates, cuts and utensils fit in the deepest basket just fine. However, the ziplock boxes are too tall for the shallower baskets (they tend to tip out) -- and the opening to pull out bags is blocked when they're placed into the deeper basket. I would not recommend the OTD rack for ziplock/foil products.

Also, the city website confirms recycle services are 'temporarily discontinued' still. Thank you for reminding me to get this done.

How unique! I've loved the name Isaac since I was a small child. I never met anyone by that name, so I reserved it for my son. Isaac got his diagnosis shortly after I filmed this video. It has been quite the learning curve. You're an au-some mom, and I pray you and Isaac are well. Also, Big Lots and Burlington stores usually have great deals on organization items. In my opinion, there is a lot of sugar, a lot of trash food. And the toddler has free access to it. I would put all the candies and snacks up, far away from kids. After that, the pantry is very nice.

Thank you for the suggestion, Ewelina! I filmed this 2 years ago, and the contents of our pantry has changed quite a bit -- but the layout is the same. I agree, the snacks need to move up a shelf. We slip knotted a rubber band over the doorknobs to keep the kids out. :)

Hard to believe the number of snacks in the pantry! Definitely no children here, so zero snacks in our pantry
@thenovicemom10932 жыл бұрын
So true! My husband is the biggest snacker among us. I don't allow the kids to open packaged snacks at home anymore; and they must always eat a fridge option first (yogurt, applesauce, fresh fruit and veggies, etc.) I will go into more detail about how the pantry ended up full of snacks, in an upcoming video.
@urbanhomesteadingchannel18132 жыл бұрын
I just started the video but I have to say I'm concerned. There's not a single healthy item in that pantry. Convenient items yes but even with small children it's possible to eat healthy. I'll continue watching because I am striving to get things more organized in a house that literally has 2 closets.

The city I live in in Oklahoma spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to start recycling but then had no one to buy the recycled waste and it all ended up going to the landfill anyways so they scrapped the program. It was a LOT of money wasted.😬

Ugh. In our city, only 1 contractor responded to the proposal for recycle pickup. Unfortunately they had no previous experience in recycle collection and they needed a $1M surety bond in order to sign the contract. Nothing ever became of it. Just sad.

Added: Horrible utility story! We bought our house 17 years ago. We "thought" we were on city sewer, and our property is only 1/3 of an acre, in the city. Well, our toilets kept backing up, got it fixed, happened over and over. Well, finally they determined we have a septic system!!! After 17 years, no disclosure when we bought our home, it was only 2 years old. After $1,200, we had it drained, after digging up our front yard! Total nightmare! 💩
@thenovicemom10932 жыл бұрын
That is insane!!! We lived in a house with a septic system growing up. We had problems with tree roots often. One time my older brother drove over one of the caps in the front yard with the lawn mower, and all the toilet tissue and brown water just flooded that area. Also, back in the days where fast food places sold collector items (McDonald's had the Batman glass mugs, Chick-fil-a had the beanie babies, etc), there were eyeball straws you could buy from Taco Bell and the plumber found the eyeball in the pipe of the toilet. We had to re-carpet the house after that incident. Yikes!

Indeed! However, we balance it with plenty of fruits and vegetables in the fridge, and my tendency to cook scratch meals. I promise most of the junk food actually goes bad before we have a chance to eat it all -- but to each their own.

I appreciate everyone's feedback for what I have in my pantry, but my kids eat plenty of fruits and vegetables from the fridge and in home cooked meals; so no need for anyone to feel sorry for them. Everyone is welcome to their opinions. However, based off one video filmed 2 years ago, isn't a fair basis for assuming my kids are fed only junk. My parents always lived separately and neither of them cooked, so I have slowly taught myself over the last decade, because I missed out on a lot of good food as a child.
