The Mario 4K Trust the Fungus edition is incredible. Still kicking myself for not pre-ordering it before it sold out. (I was broke, ugh.) I planned to buy it right at release, too. It's one of my favorites since childhood. If my mom was still alive and she stumbled onto this Maro Bros 4K box-set before I even found out about it, I'm pretty sure that she would have pre-ordered it for me just knowing how much I loved it. (She gifted me the ultimate metal-box collectors Back to the Future Blu-ray box-set before I even collected steelbooks or knew about this edition existing - early in the days of Blu-ray). (Same thing with the DVD, got me the Back to the Future trilogy on DVD.) Actually, when I got that set, I'm pretty sure I thought it was the coolest physical media release I had ever owned (still one of my favorites in my collection, I'll never part with it.) Going down memory lane, I was actually absurdly anti-steelbooks at first ("just a gimmick to inspire double/triple dips for collectables" but then I got some on sale and went down the collectible rabbit hole and have never looked back.) & now I love steelbooks - especially because of the emphasis on the art work. Even more-so these days because the studio releases are often plastered with "4K+Blu-ray+DVD+Digital" etc quote-filled cover-arts, something boutique labels wisely avoid. Steelbooks emphasis the art work more.)

So What? Not everyone is into the books and art cards and all the other somewhat useless ephemera, which also makes it very expensive. Even in Australia, Umbrella 4ks, even the standard releases, are very expensive - such is the cost of producing 4ks in Aus. And if it's a homespun Umbrella 4k resto then it won't have any HDR, because Umbrella never use it. At least Cameron painstakingly restored his movies and included both versions of Aliens and Abyss, with Dolby Vision and so on, and they are reasonably priced.

I agree with both sides. Yes Cameron uses reviosonist AI to remaster his films which loses film grain but if you watched the new Aliens 4k it actually kept some film grain and you can now see increased details like hair strands that you could never see before on the fox blurays so that one is a win. The Abyss looks good but he could have kept more grain in that one like he did with Aliens and True Lies 4k looks bad though not T2 kinda bad. Word on the street is T2 is getting a proper 4k re-re-master this year and it will be released again and T1 is getting a 4k this fall. But back to my comment his remastering is up and down. I personally think his Titanic 4k which Paramount did looks incredible. You have the see them for yourself with your own 2 eyes on your own 4k display in your house because youtube doesn't actually showcase 4k60p HDR on your phone display. That's what a lot of people don't realize.@@KarlTheExpert

I love that Mario bros. movie! "Guilty" pleasure. I even loved it in the 90s. The new one was more representative of the game but was way too safe.

I got my chonky Trust the fungus set yesterday. It is jaw dropping how impressive this thing is. I do not use 4k disks so I will likely trash or sell that disk but the books and extra swag are really cool. I'm most excited to dive into 12+ hours of extras .

The RoundUp and the other two movies (The Outlaws and The Roundup: No way out) are GREAT. There is a fourth movie that just opened up last month: The Roundup: Punishment. Don Lee is a tank. For more Don Lee try The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil. Also The Bad Guys: Reign of Chaos is great.

It's always amazing to me how packaging and can make a horrible film "better". Time? Gimmicks and pretentions. I can't wait for the Ed Wood Glen or Glenda 4K, steelbook, 8 commentaries, 12 graphic novels collection with a $99 or higher price tag. I was afraid this was going the way of comics and baseball cards. I was wrong. It's worse. There are 100s of films far more significant that won't get one tenth the attention as so many mediocre and bad films. But that's because it's becoming more evident, the films are secondary.

I didn't like the Super Mario Brothers movie as a kid either. A few years ago I bought the dvd and enjoyed it as the very weird movie it is. It doesn't work as a Mario video game adaptation, and will be disappointing to anyone expecting that
