Splash Mountain Was One Of My Favorite Rides At Disney. I first rode it at the age of 6 and I was completely Amazed by it. It combined looney tunes style slapstick comedy, scary elements for the big drop, and catchy songs. It’s a shame to see it gone and replaced with this.

I think Tiana's Bayou Adventure should've been a scary Halloween ride with Dr. Facilier, Lawrence, and the scary shadow spirits, masks, dolls and played the song "Friends on the Other Side" especially at the dropoff.

A few leftover warehouse a1000 animatronics that were reskinned is impressive to you? The animal characters are literally the single axis type you can find for the holidays at Home Depot, complete garbage filler. All of Splash Mountain’s characters were custom designed from the ground up, especially the Brer characters. They all were unique and used hydraulics that are actually designed for humidity and temperature fluctuations.

I wished the dancing Spoonbill birds, 3 possums, Lady butterflies from Princess and the Frog and 3 Frog Hunter Hillbilly men, Buford, Buta the Dog, Marcel the Cat was in this ride. Oh there's Juju the snake.

There are many wonderful things about Tiana's Bayou Adventure, but where it falls short is that to "tell the story" of the attraction it too-often relies on language -- written signage throughout the ride, as well as dialogue by animatronics. It fails to utilize the long-admired Disney style of visual storytelling, pioneered in animated films nearly a century ago and later mastered in theme parks. Here are two examples: In the first big lift where we first see Tiana, she is verbally telling us we need to find members for the band. This is no visual story-telling because if you do not understand English you have no idea what the premise of the attraction is. There is nothing visual about this scene that says "this story is about needing music and a band." If Marc Davis or Tony Baxter, as examples, were designing this attraction, were would no doubt be visual storytelling to supplement and enhance. If the frosted glass doors behind Tiana had silhouettes projected on them of haphazard band members with trombones and tubas blaring discordant notes, and Tiana had her hands clasped to ears to block the "awful music" during the stall periods between delivering her dialogue, then she could pull her hands away and ask for our help. The "problem" of the story and our role in "fixing" it would be concisely conveyed in a visual, animated, thematic way. Here's another example, as you approach the barn lift, there is sign announcing the party ("A Celebration of Family and Friends of New Orleans..."). This requires reading, and there is nothing else about this sign or environment that suggests "party," so if you can't read you have no idea what is being conveyed. This is not only bad because of the broad age-range of Tiana fans and the fundamental requirements of entertaining non-English visitors, but reading a sign doesn't work as quickly or viscerally as other thematic cues. There should be some other decorative elements around the front of the barn lift such as string lights, festive lanterns, or Mardi Gras style decorations to convey "party" without reading the text itself. These are two examples of how the story-telling of this attraction doesn't quite live up to Disney's track record in this field and how nominal-cost enhancements could greatly improve the attraction and experience for all guests. Whether riders understand English, are hearing impaired, too young to read quickly, or have difficulty hearing and understanding the spoken dialogue -- and for everyone else who has come to love Disney's long-standing excellence in theme park storytelling -- I hope Disney layers these types of enhancements into Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Disneyland Park feels like a missed opportunity to seamlessly integrate a beloved character into the park's landscape. The repurposed barn and ride vehicles fail to evoke the authentic New Orleans ambiance they aim for, coming across as awkwardly "shoehorned" elements. This is most evident at the top of the main uphill, where a massive sign disrupts the flow and feels jarringly out of place. The choice to pair a "mountain" attraction with a bayou theme is questionable, amplifying the sense of disconnect between the setting and Tiana's story. While the New Orleans-inspired tale might work beautifully in a flat, enclosed show building like Pirates of the Caribbean, it struggles to find harmony within a vertical, outdoor attraction. The ride's storyline also feels incomplete, with the backstory not fully developed or conveyed. The underground segment with a shrinking motif adds an interesting twist, providing a rare moment where the reimagining seems to hit its stride. However, the iconic splash down the mountain feels like a holdover from the attraction's past rather than an intentional fit for the new theme. The final showroom, likewise, seems at odds with the narrative, leaving the experience feeling disjointed. Ultimately, the choice to replace Splash Mountain with Tiana's Bayou Adventure feels forced in both concept and execution. If it was necessary to retire the Song of the South intellectual property, then a different IP may have been a better fit for the attraction, one that could more naturally align with the existing structure and setting. Alternatively, if the park was committed to Tiana's Bayou Adventure, a more radical transformation-tearing down the mountain to create a custom-built show building-could have allowed the story to truly shine.

Agreed there SHOULD be audio in the 1st lift hill from the Tiana anamtronic ( seen it other vids!) i aint watched the rest of the vid yet BUT looking at your comment there were quite a few problems with stuff! ...you would think they would have had all that sorted before opening to the paying public? after all they have had plenty of time to iron out all these bugs in the ride since they did the ridethrough for disney emloyees/ imagineers months ago!

Tiana and her friends create a joyful, light-hearted, and happy New Orleans atmosphere. I don't know how you feel about those who preferred Splash Mountain, but I love this Tiana's Bayou Adventure more. I definitely hope that TDL opens this attraction as well!
