Oh Cinderella’s original animation was silver/ white! They just changed it in marketing/ public perception by always depicting her in blue because they couldn’t market small white dresses to children ( too close to wedding dresses). I do agree the black belt isn’t great.

I am a mermaid performer and have made and worn headpieces similar to the one on Ariel so it makes perfect sense to me. Also if you look closer it’s actually seahorses and shells, not wings.

smol - We believe those are 'Angel-wing' clamshells (which would make sense for Ariel's costume)...and the longer tulle overskirt is meant to evoke a 'fluffy seafoam', as it glides out of the water and up onto the sand (IMO, of course). I think it's quite pretty, in an avant-garde way.... 🌊

I just found the extra mini with the purple bear outfit and she’s so so cute! I’m not an expert on telling which type of hair it is, but I will say that the rooting ones it is pretty nice. The elbows and knees can bend, and it’s so fun having a tiny doll with a little more articulation.

I'm 38, and "40-year-olds who think they're young" is completely true, and describes a critical doll designer error I've watched tank so many lines for the past 20+ years. At least the RH clothes look like real clothes, so many lines have been a hot mess of dated trends and older adult styles nobody would ever wear together.

Cinderella’s dress is white/silver in the movie. We just remember it being blue because of some of the stylistic lighting and the Disney princess dolls.

The disney designer dolls typically aren't meant to match the film, that is for the larger 17" dolls (which are fancier versions but still movie accurate). More often than not, the 13" dolls are meant to be simply inspired by the movie, character, or fairytale, and are supposed to simply represent high fashion and our favorite characters on the red carpet, think like the met gala. It's fine if it isn't your cup of tea but its important to understand they are not trying to be movie-accurate which can help us form a better judgment of the doll. Since every doll is so different and experimental, I love how these dolls can inspire some polarizing opinions and create discussions about the inspiration behind the art of the design. I loved jasmine so I got her, but I hated Pocahontas. I personally really like the ariel doll, and I take it to represent the birth of venus, which is greco/roman, which would explain the puff of tulle in the back which I take to be the back of the seashell. Also, in the original fairytale "the little mermaid", she dies and then flies out of the seafoam (or becomes the seafoam depending on the version) so I think this also pays an interesting homage to that. I think this could explain the wings (flying and roman) as well. I haven't figured out whether she is worth the money to me yet, but I do think playline collectors need to chill about the prices of collectors dolls. Often playline collectors will spend the same amount of money as high-end collectors since the price point may be a bit cheaper, but they buy many many more dolls. Consider how buying all 6 winter break rainbow high dolls put you out $228 or the sleepover and rockstars would cost $300 to get them all. How many $30 LOL OMGS have come out this year? All doll collectors are spending a LOT of money to make their collections happen so let's try and not shame the prices some are willing to pay, some people just get fewer dolls and are very happy with that. I personally get a mix of both so I see both sides of the coin. This isn't directly targeting anyone, and I loved the video overall btw, but I was just reminded of it since a lot of people are complaining about the price of this doll.

GCDS is an italian streetwear brand. They did a collaboration with MGA and created a capsule collection called GCDS x Bratz which includes fashion and accessories besides the two dolls. There should be a pop-up store in London...

In Greek mythology (and the Little Mermaid Broadway musical!) Poseidon is the father of Triton, so he would be Ariel's grandfather. Also in the musical, it was explained that Ursula and Triton were siblings, and Poseidon was the one who gave them the shell and the trident.

I do like the blond Barbie Extra Mini, it resembles a small BJD and ther face features are cuter than the ones on Rainbow High. I wish RH faces didn't look so unatural and tetric i guess? In that case I would consider getting one due to the articulation and quality of the clothing. I am also looking forward Barbie Ballet Wishes 2022, which should be launching anytime soon.

I bought the full collection of the mini Barbie’s and their hair is so fun to play with a pretty good quality!!! They fit in my bag for on the go 😁 definitely give them a chance. I love theeemm! 🥺 They are also super pose-able which is fun. The stands they come with suck tho… 🤭

OMG the tiny Barbie is SO CUTE! They have "chibi" proportions and they're jointed? AHH I love them they're so cute!! I love cartoony anime & chibi style and always found Barbie boring because she didn't tick those boxes for me (closest was MyScene). I've liked Barbie for nostalgia purposes but never really felt like I NEEDED a Barbie into adulthood. Theses though? Eeee!! I think the GCDS dolls are still being released. I think stores just run out of stock, and you have to wait for them to get more… The US online sites seem to say it’s coming back. Also, there is holiday Felicia being released! I am excited for all the new Bratz dolls!!! ✨

The feathers are a nod to the seagull in the movie. It's not supposed to be a doll that's a literal representation of their fashions from the movie. We have enough of those. It's a reinterpretation. It's a very Carnivale/Caribbean take on her.

I think the long skirt of the Ariel doll is supposed to be an artistic representation of a mermaid's tail fin which are see through. So the short skirt might be representing the base of the tail where the fin grows out. I think she's a lovely doll and her outfit is beautiful in it's artistic representations of a fin and the water. I think the ear wings are fine but that's because I'm an artist and I draw all my mermaids with ear fin-wings so this is a normal look to me. I'm not fond of the seashell purse. It's very creative but it feels out of place with the whole outfit. Maybe if it had been a small shell clutch or short strap handbag instead of a long strap bag I wouldn't be so bothered. It just sticks out strangely.

disneys 50th inv is blue and gold themed, it was really a missed opportunity to do that with Cinderella when she also where's a blue dress all they needed to do was add gold... I don't like that look they did the white and black just makes it look plain and a bit dull.

I'll probably be getting the extra minis for rebody or repaint purposes. More than 5 points articulation in a doll that size is so rare. If I didn't want to customize them they'd be a huge no though, the fashion is awful and those eyebrows are too much. There are dolls like Hardorables or Angel High in that size range that are much cuter.

Totally agree as usual but as far as rainbow high being knock off of high designer brands your correct, but I think it's not only 40 tears who look young here in the U.S younger millennial usually born around 2000 or later still dress like that too the ones with really damaged social problems and are usually pretty mean and slightly or very inconsiderate , so it's not a trend to them like how we(people who prefer inspired designer high fashion)see it.i don't like excessive branding either , it makes my head hurt some things need to stay in 2003 just like some things need to stay in the 80s.

Although Mattel already made some stylized dolls ( the mini mermaids from the Mermaidia line in 2006 ) they are always strange to see because as you said, Barbie tends to be realistic But these dolls actually show that Barbie is not realistic now because even the faces of some Fashionistas are very cartoonish and not realistic at all I LOVE the new basic/ budget Barbie dolls, those butterfly print dresses give 2000s vibes, and they have heels too, they are perfect I will buy the brunette doll with the yellow dress and pink heels The Cinderella doll for the 50th anniversary of Disney World is TOO simple, but i'm glad she is in white and not in blue I don't like the new Disney Designer line too, the designs are so weird

The Ariel doll just does not look like Ariel. If I saw her without someone telling me who she is, I wouldn't be able to figure out that she's Ariel. I think those "wings" on her head are supposed to be like fin shaped ears that people sometimes put on mermaids though.
