It’s frustrating that over half the comments seem to be from trolls or people who just don’t understand. I keep seeing things like, “It’s a Tesla Coil,” or “It’s a Bifilar Coil,” and so on. Oy! I’m honestly getting close to turning off the comments entirely to avoid misleading others who genuinely want to learn. I can already imagine people spending hundreds of dollars on parts based on these misconceptions, only to end up with nothing that works-and then they get angry at me for their lack of understanding. 😞

I have come across this TYPE of electricity before it reacts completely different. I agree with you about how things go bonkers .. Gerard Morin would too.. when I first came across this I was running different types of household items, including machinery, and non-machinery types.. fyi. Lightbulbs filament, non-filament types …old radios with big transformers, AC, or DC motors.. etc. when I hooked certain items up like ..plugged in the radio with transformer, add a light voltage would not drop ..plug in a TV or electronics with any kind of capacitors in them. My voltage with double sometimes triple because it is multiplying within the electronics of each item different ways..I found I could run many more things on one line or one source this way.. all completely safe to grab a hold of A wire and not get shocked…. In my research and what I was been working on It does very peculiar things. 😊

It's difficult wrapping our minds around how the field is very energetic around the wire yet wattless in traditional looped current. But charges caps and batteries like it's a joke. And i'm not getting all that shocking from nearby ionisations and all that RF leakage you expect from a normal "Tesla" coil. This is no Tesla coil. Also No closed loops Past the traditional driver trigger oscillator isolated one wire output. even ground is artificial. on the other side of AC rectifier.

In one way or another, it always comes down to the dynamics of potential differences. That’s the core principle at play here. It seems that the tri-nature design of this capacitor effectively amplifies this phenomenon. If even a small amount of air near the tube becomes ionized, could these ions act similarly to an electrolyte in an "air cell," exploiting the potential differences between two dissimilar metals? This interaction might be part of what enhances the fields in this configuration.

Excellent demo, I'm able to get an easy 2000v, but have to limit it down to 1600ish volts because of the coil/wire's insulation, it starts arcing! Up graded to the double insulation QZY-2/180 stuff much better. No transformer action just as you say. just a 1kg spool of wire, not wound in any special way. Practically no input, my emf meter tells me there's 1.7amps in my magnetic field! Can't use a current meter as there's nothing going into the coil! It's very simple once you understand it.

You can use many tubes turn vacuumtubes into variable capacitors and readapt them for all sorts Don Smith Bedini setups😊..determine discharge rate frequency..build up dangerous potential differentials WARNING you could possibly produce X-rays aswell with a sparkgap setup..in which case shielding wouldnt even matter ...as it would go through it like it wasnt their ..unless its lead shielding ...but yeah a tube sliding system around it that's grounded ..over said vacuumtube and having plates on both ends of the vacuumtube ...I did it ones and tube held its charge even after a good minute after disconnecting it went poof on me 😮that woke me allright ..but like you said playing with this stuff on your own risks✌😉

Of the Dixie tubes I note yours is putting out more UV , the other colour temps probably won't work as well. I'd recommend getting some air movement between the foil and the tube and the foil and the coil . The more humid the air the effect will increase.😊

Just thinking out load: any electric charge available on the ends of a dipole will flow amazing fast entraining more other available around if they will pass through an electret with the right orientation respectively positive enters on negative of the electret and gets out on electret’s positive (up to 500 times less ohmic resistance) while a strong magnetic field with parallel lines in the same direction south-north oriented with positive-negative surrounding the electret. Of course we can use bifilar coil as an electret where magnetic field is cancelled and pulse the magnet (modulation) we need to accept that electret field acting in the same way as a magnetic field … exactly how we build a permanent magnet or an electromagnet applied for electret: permanent electret->electro-electret. Any electret is able to collect any charge available in local environment ! So, whatever is your input, using an electret you rise the potential by adding extra energy without any cost if it is a permanent electret … exactly like a permanent magnet ! So, for a electro-electret we need a coil with as little as possible inductance and huge capacitance ! So, bifilar coils with their uniform distributed capacitance act as magnet and electret in the same time ! Just observe where and how magnetic field is placed … study Tesla patent for bifilar coils and related patents for “joule thief”.

Well to be fair I was not expecting that strong of output considering the joke current used in the input trigger. These oscillator drivers are toys essentially, But charging a microwave cap at half the microwave voltage instant. Considering how many watts traditionally it takes to do this, yep an obvious gain. I didn't edit it out to do this show people unexpected things can happen and don't depend on "it's just a pill battery driving it" So I can't get hurt from any output I may get. Even without big charging capacitors. Just the small 20 or so pf is enough at HF to knock your socks out.

Fascinating, Im too much of a electronics newbie to be skeptical, but i do remember hearing even ohms law was rejected by the established scientific community at the time, hopefully times are a little different but I would expect the same. The idea of filling holes in the air reminds me of how transitors work, and i wonder if wireless power is just a transitor in the air turning on an letting power flow? what power? from where? maybe your location matters if you want to extract energy from the surroundings, but if I understand right its capturing some energy from the interaction between the neon tube and asymetric cap, with the oscillator facilitating it? Very cool, i havnet really ever had the urge to build a circuit but this has me kind of motivated. Maybe you could 3d print the cone for better results, although they seem good already with that setup. Ive been spending my time learning microcontrollers lately and think they could be a good tool to help experiment, giving you very fast switching of anything you need or frequency generating even.

Nice work Joel! .... I'm looking into CFL lights. They have some fly back circuit built in and run at frequencies with in the range you talk about in your PDF. 24 Khz or so. I'm thinking might be a good starting point for inexpensive experimentation. Just picked up a few to play with at a surplus store for a couple of bucks. Also from what I can tell doing some research they produce a lot of EMI and there is even some filtering within the circuit to try to make them less noisy. I'm thinking take out that circuit and could be a good platform to play with. Without having to go to Russia :)
