if there's a Metro Kingdom, and New Donk City is the capital, and that's on top of a skyscraper, then every metropolitan city in the Mario series has to be located in the out-of-bounds area surrounding it like Toad City from N64 Toad's Turnpike, GCN Mushroom City/Mushroom Bridge and Wii Moonview City

This was honestly my favourite discovery while replaying the game. I thought the music sounded a little off, like it was missing parts. Come to find out, the music GROWS over time as you recruit the musicians, only becoming the full theme when all four have been gathered! And that... that was honestly amazing! This game is so full of easy-to-miss detail that I'm amazed every single time! (As an example: Did you know Mario has a unique idle animation specifically for standing next to the solo-jamming musicians? Try it out next time your replay this game!)

Not only that, that dancing animation also matches the rhythm of whatever song you play in the music player. Try going to the radio station in Mushroom Kingdom, make mario dance and change the song. He will dance to the rhythm of that specific song, he even slows down sometimes to match the beat!

I'm sure the reason there are a lot of variations is that you can pick up the musicians in any order, and they add their part to the song. It's great that Nintendo went to such trouble though, the in-game music is wonderful to listen to! Definitely my favorite kingdom.

That must be a lot of variations! Let's see, there's 4 musicians in total, so now with each of those either being in a given variation or not, it's sort of like a 4-bit binary number which can go up to 16. So the possible variations are as follows: 0000, 0001, 0010, 0011, 0100, 0101, 0110, 0111, 1000, 1001, 1010, 1011, 1100, 1101, 1110, 1111 That's a lot of audio! And if they had any other instrument, that would double it! You'd think at some point they would need to have tracks dynamically playing on top of each other or something. So sure the audio would still be more storage than a single song, but at least it's not exponentially increasing.

Drum kit Trombones (plural) Trumpets (plural) Saxophone(s) (there may be multiple) Bass guitar Electric guitar Lead guitar Shaker (has to be played by someone besides drummer, because they most likely don’t have three arms) Piano I think that’s it.
