I own both a tenor and alto built by the same company and they have ended my 60 relationship with Selmer’s. My alto needed no setup adjustments, but I did a few very minor comfort adjustments on the tenor. They are both my main horns now.

Thanks for the review. My Yamaha is in for repair and I won't have it for at least a month, so I've been looking for a cheap Tenor to keep me occupied. This looks like a real winner. And so pretty! I'm glad to hear it's still playing beautifully after 2 years. I've asked if they can lower the shipping price to Australia (and mentioned what you paid for getting it to Sweden). Worth a shot!

Good review and great playing, from a big Eastern Music fan. I have their Ref. 54 tenor copy, their solid silver neck and 3 of their Fatboy mouthpieces. Very satisfied with all their products. I just ordered the Mark VI copy and that should arrive is a couple of weeks. I'm hoping I like it as much as the Ref. 54 copy. I'm anxious to see how it compares to my vintage Selmer Mk VI. The action on the Ref. 54 copy is not as good as my real Mk. VI, but its not at all bad, and should get better after "break-in".

A couple of days ago I ordered a tenor black matte saxophone from an Aliexpress seller for 350USD. I hope it arrives in good condition. China has made saxophones for several decades now and they have become quite good at it after all these years. Critics are often motivated because they're probably offended that there's quality competition at very low prices. Good for consumers, not good for companies like Selmer and Yamaha. False rumours like they're unfixable, low quality etc are created to undermind the distribution and sales of good quality low price instruments. What do you think?
@iantrewhella94702 жыл бұрын
I feel the build quality has improved a lot over the years and they are making instruments that can rival the higher priced brands but at a much lower cost.

Good morning Yamaha should not be placed in the same category as Selmer price wise . The only instrument brand that is close to SELMER price wise would be Kielwert. Fortunately Yamahas have no intonation problems and are a better deal for your cash.

If you read the acoustics they say less holes makes a better sound but I ve found out first handed that if the neck is tighted too much which is easy to do since it's critical to getting good response, you can easily tighten the neck too much and end up with warped F, F sharp and E tone holes!👊🏾😡
