I can definitely tell the difference. As in another video, the Echo Plus had better highs than the Echo 2. I have an original Echo as well as an Echo Plus. I like the high end of the original Echo over the high end of the Echo 2. The Echo Plus beats both of them. My preference in order of best to next best, etc. is Echo Plus, original Echo, and Echo 2.

I’m planning to get a HomePod but now that they’ve released Echos in Canada I’m really tempted to get a Dot with maybe a UE Wonderboom to hold me out until the HomePod releases here in Canada. Should I do it or is it just a waste of money?

If u just get the $50 one, not losing much for a neat smart speaker. I got the echo plus (just shipped out today) but this is my gateway into smart automation. Already got a couple philips bulbs to get started. I'm a canuck too btw lol Plus, if you're not happy with it you can return it, always a bonus :)

This video needs an update. I have the plus and it controls all of my smart bulbs, cooler and all. Not one of them are the same brand of bulb, either.

Plus has more base, Echo has more treble

Xubin Chen I couldn’t detect *more* base, the volumes sounded the same to my ears. To me it’s more that the plus just has a tighter sound and the highs aren’t as muddied by the base. Looking at the specs it also wouldn’t make sense for the V2 to have more, they should be pretty similar actually- the plus should just be able to push more power.

U can ask the echo plus to change the color of the hue color ambiance bulb thru voice. Although there's no option in the Alexa app to change color. I am using Philips white ambiance bulb and can easily change the color from warm white to cool white or daylight white and also change the brightness of the bulb using echo plus. Obviously when u are using echo plus u would be connecting it directly to ZigBee bulb without the skill or the hue bridge. That U can't change the color thru echo plus is a huge misconception created by reviewers. Thru spoken commands u surely can.
