In this video I review and test the brand new EGO CS1611 Battery powered cordless electric chainsaw. This chainsaw includes a 56v 2.5Ah battery and charger. Even though this saw offers all the safety features you would expect from EGO - it also packs tons of power thanks to it's brushless motor. Don't believe me? Watch it easily tear through a 30" tree trunk.
Chainsaws ain't just for Texas anymore :)

I love EGO's continuous progress year after year. My next purchase is the upcoming EGO telescoping pole saw. Was going to buy the EGO's 18-inch saw, but settled for the Hart Tools 16-inch because it was cheaper, lighter, and while it doesn't have RPMs that EGO provides, its torque more than made up for it. Great video, thank you! 💯💯💯

The only thing I want Ego to add to their 18" chainsaw is a manual sharpener. I have an Oregon corded chainsaw 18" and there is a pull tab you can use that puts a sharpening stone against the blade as you spin the blade it sharpens the blades. After about 8 seconds its super sharp and ready to go. No tools required, just pull back, spin blade, count to 8 and DONE from dull to sharp. I wish every chainsaw had this but especially a new 18" Ego battery chainsaw.

I bought my 16 inch chainsaws 2 days ago and Love it. I own mostly Ego tools lineup. The only item EGO doesn't do such a good job in is their Lawnmower. I had the new twin blade select cut lawnmower with a high lift blade and it was great at cutting grass only, but failed to mulch the Fall leaves. Ended up selling the EGO and buying a Honda, but everything else EGO does a great job.

Looks like a nice upgrade, but it's unfortunate (though not surprising) to see the price increase. When I got my 16" in 2019 with a 5.0 Ah battery it was $250. Edit: It was actually $300! Turns out the new one is pretty similar in price. And I bought mine in 2018, not '19...

Another good video. I am a big fan of using these battery chainsaws instead of my Stihl gas chainsaw for most of my needs. They keep on improving them year after year. I like how EGO has the metal spikes and chain break feature. I don't have those features on my Ryobi 40v 14-inch chainsaw. However, the plastic spikes on the Ryobi chainsaw are good enough and I'm not totally convinced that a chain break is required on an electric motor as compared to the gas engine chainsaws. But still, nice upgrades. I don't like the toolless bar and chain setups. I prefer the old-fashioned bolts that need to be tightened down. The biggest drawback of these battery chainsaws is the run time. How much run time do you get on a 2.5Ah battery? If you are in the EGO system, I suppose you have other batteries as well. You mentioned the EGO is rated at 20 mps. My little 14-inch Ryobi clocks in at 23.3 mps. I would like to see a cutting test between similar priced models. Ryobi now states that you can upgrade their 14-inch chainsaw to an 18-inch bar. Their 18-inch chainsaw seems to use the same motor as their 14-inch model, and a number of people have noticed that. I have replacement 16 inch and 18-inch bar and chain combos to put on my Ryobi chainsaw. However, most of my yard cleanup is done with a smaller Ryobi 18v 12-inch chainsaw. I have enough 18v batteries to run that small chainsaw all day long. Other than run time, I really prefer the battery chainsaws over gas for my needs.

I went through one each of fully charged 7.5Ah and 5.0Ah batteries and was on a second 5.0Ah.
