this is so incredibly helpful, i was a pointe dancer many years ago that got cut short, and i'm finally getting back into dance again and sewing my ribbons and elastic was leaving me stumped!

Never thought about it this way, just liked the idea of the extra support and changed to criss Cross in my early pointe days yet Still struggling to get over the box so thank you, next pair I‘ll try the single loop solution once more, because this makes so much sense.

I'm just getting back into ballet as an adult so not nearly ready to go en pointe yet, but this was fascinating! I never realized the reasons behind a single loop or criss cross so I'm really happy to learn this for when I do go en pointe one day! Thanks😊

What a wonderful, informative video! You explained this very well and the Otis clips were an added bonus. :) I just finished sewing some criss cross elastics for the first time in all my years of dancing. I've always just done the single loop, but with my bendy ankles and tendency to go over the box, the criss cross elastic will likely help. I wasn't entirely sure where to sew it on the sides though, so I just guessed! 😂 Hopefully it's the correct way!

I have little back loops for the ribbons that heels doesn't go off and crisscross to support the ankles

This is so helpful!! 46 yrs old,new to pointe. I will be trying single loop on my left foot that has a bit more difficulty getting over the box than my right. What are your thoughts on elastic ribbon versus satin?

Awesome, I'm so glad to hear it was helpful!! Stretch ribbon is indeed very popular, especially for dancers who have trouble getting over the box. Give the stretch ribbons a try and see if it helps! Keep an eye out for excess Achilles tendon pain or pain across the front of the ankles after class, which would be a sign that the ribbon is not giving you enough support!

My teacher told me to sew it from one but the shoe came out so she told me to cross it , does it affect anything if I should use it in only one?
