I like how its a tradeoff - destroy the shield with remote detonation (good use for it!), weaken her defense but buff her offense!

@Blooky UwU Ye. As far as I'm aware, Whiplashes and Summoners (and by extension Spirits) are the only female demons in the Doom games. Doom 3 has a few more, but it's kind of its own thing.

The Good: The player can choose which version of the whiplash to engage. ID started leaning that direction with the armored baron and seeing this makes me wish it was more of an archetype. The Bad: The shield itself. If remote det is the toggle, I think giving the whippy an armored front or a front-facing shield would better suit it. Overall: Cool

I think the idea was just to give the player incentive to use remote det in general, as lock on is a lot of players' go to for whippies. It would force them to mod swap mid fight or think of another way to handle the situation and break out of their comfort zone. Plus we already have riot soldiers and pinkies, which both fill that role. It's good to change it up. My only negative is that the shield just seems way too huge and isn't very aesthetically pleasing. Kind of looks pretty stupid if I'm being honest lol.

@@SarahSchlongfeel I agree it looks wonky but the visual of the shield itself is the least important aspect of this prototype since it can easily be changed and improved without it affecting gameplay.

I think it's because lock on is a lot of player's go to for whippies. It might encourage players to try something new, even if that means they have to swap mods mid battle. With more than one of these girls, that could pose a problem if the only way they know to deal with them is lock on.

@@Mrcryptidsarereal that's why I said they would have to swap mods mid battle if they wanted to use lock on. But that strategy wouldn't be as effective if there were multiple whiplashes, especially if they were spawning multiple in increments of 10-20 seconds or so. Yeah the spectre whiplash already does that but I think this can be a version that is more visible.

I like the idea of a dynamic enemy that changes from tanky dude to fast damage dealer, but why the Remote Detonate specifically that does it? This feels like a cheap way to get people to use remote detonate more.

That's fair, but Id themselves did that with Spirits. That being said, I use microwave beam a lot more now.

@@zachzorlac9839 Well they did adjust what stone imps were vulnerable to so you could use more weapons to kill them. As for spirits, I don't mind it too much as they're, one: used sparingly. Two: don't really try to attack you; you just have to worry about demons around you and faltering/freezing them. And three: it makes you conscious of your plasma ammo usage/chainsaw pips which can force certain people out of comfort zones and force them to experiment with more of their utility.

This is probably the only way I can see the whiplash demon being added to Battlemode 2.0 is if it’s the Infernal Whiplash otherwise there’s no point in adding him bc he’ll just be an easy target for the slayer 😎👍

SO curious - how much advancement in the current modding tools will be needed for full blown custom levels, enemies and weapons? How do you account for these in Encounter managers? Clearly you've binded a particle effect and a shootable trigger to it, but that means that you spawn this enemy in via it's IDai2.
